16 year olds on noisy peds dont know any better, they/(I certainly did) lived in a world of their own and didnt give a stuff about other people. You're simply bringing forward the banning of modding our bikes, especially in our go green age. Modern bikes are too quiet I know, but why do you think that is? Noise testing is on its way because too many bikers have been irresponsible in the past.
Its never been proved BTW that a noisy pipe helps car/truck drivers know we are there, you should be wearng a Hi Vis vest if you want to be seen, nobody does though but it doesnt look or sound cool.

Been riding bikes 20+ years .. Tried high vis (made little or no difference) I always have my headlight on and have high vis LED lights on . And loud cans . There not to loud imho but im sure some people may consider them abit loud but i dont leave the house with a fistfull of revs and when i come home i keep it under 3k where its no louder than standard cans .
But they way i see it is every thing i can do to make people see/hear me is a good thing and most car drivers move over and i get a thumbs up .
I carry my baffles with me under the seat and have standard cans as well but never been pulled for noisy cans on any of my bikes and will continue to keep the baffles out .
As mentioned Vtwins are a lot easier on the ear than a high revving il4 with a noisy can but under 6k there rarley that loud that there an issue in town unless there playing silly buggers .

I own the new 2009 model Honda Hornet 600cc - restriced to 33bhp 
However its one hell of a sexy bike for a Naked too. May not be overall best performance or the one everyone talks about but its one hell of well designed engineered masterpiece and i for sure am proud to own one
I dunno how to upload a picture of it - im new by the way lol but google it am sure you'll see one mines in white and i've moded the nuts to gold to go with the shock absorbers on the front.

Lovely bike and always liked the hornet (had a 2001) But plsssssssssssssssss dont fit anodised stuff as it mings hard and so 80's . Fit stainless if you must

Im an engineer well two year apprentice but i get advice from the crew at work because most of them are bikers anyways

IIRC it was mainly early 90s, perhaps late 80s? Will have to dig some old magazines out. Early to mid 80s I remember highly polished bits and colour coding was fashionable and race reps. Malboro's, Wranglers, Locktites Kenny Roberts etc

I've had dozens of different bikes over the years and now have a 2007 Hornet 600 and will be keepng this one for a while now.

Lovely KTM mate. I bet that is an absolute hoot to blat round a track on.
*Edit Nice catch tank there I see as well.
It was my first time on it since i came off on the same track about 4 months ago, so i was pretty nervous to be honest. Superb fun though.
I know the catch tank looks a bit cheap. I have a nice engine one tucked away near the swinging arm, but i couldn't do much with the radiator one. It was the only orange thing i could find.

Catch tanks collect oil, moisture and blow by gasses/vapour from various parts of the bike engine, mainly the intake system side of things. This helps maintain performance and keeps the intake system nice and clean.
The wee hoses you mention coming from fuel tanks and going somewhere into the headstock or near it are simply fuel breather hoses which allow for the expansion of fuel in the tank.

Absolutely lovely SM bike, I wish i had the money to own a bike atm, let alone race/trackday it. One of the major reasons im annoyed at uni just cant fit these things in and i dont want to be too old when i start.
Most bikes don't need them, with the breathers just hanging from the bike. But a lot of tracks require them so it stops it all going on the track.
