Yea the new tax systems is you pay extra for 5 years if the car is over 40k, then it's a flat rate for everything of £145. It's pretty dumb tbh and I can see them changing it again.
it's due to all the simple folk buying a car purely for the £0 tax band. I say simple folk as road tax (or ved as someone will surely say:D) is the cheapest bill on a car, but vast amounts of people are swayed by it. I do think the current system is rather stupid. I liked the original one where it was something like above or below 1.6l.

And it will be 150k in no time.

Mclarens drive awesome on a handling front, the looks are great and the doors super cool, but they just miss something for me, very much from around the engine and financially are a nightmare, they loose huge money and cost quite a lot to run.
If your happy to lose 30-50k in the next 12 months on it then its an awesome car, but as with so many modern cars of all types they really lack driving involvement at legal speeds.

Once you get so fast with a car, there becomes a point where performance is no longer a key factor and is why a lot of slow cars are some of the greatest, MX5, GT86 spring to mind and in the realm of the super car the earlier Ferrari's are exactly that, 360, 430, 458 are all incredible fun at legal speeds, the 458 is the cross over point, the faster 488, F8 and other stuff just too capable and feel somewhat less special. Even Lamborghini with that engine from the gods, I dismissed because to enjoy the car on roads you were way beyond speed limits, even the RWD version.

The 458 just makes your senses tingles and grin like a kid even at 20mph. :)

My 1.6 Focus TDCI has zero per year tax rate. When I tell people this they think I should get off the road because I don't pay "road tax" similar how they tell cyclists to do this. :D

Just a non story. Police always have vehicles used in non-chase situations like for using to attend reports of crime etc.

Also why do they make electric cars to look so damn ugly? Why can't they just make say a normal like an Astra but electric?

It's a BMW and they are all kinda ugly. But yea they could be a nicer shape.

Surely any patrol car has to be ready to give it some beans though, they can't tell the crim to hold on while they call in a car with some range.
