Shame its a rep but i wouldn't say no to owning one!

I spied a red Lamborghina Espada heading south on the M11 earlier this morning. I did wonder if perhaps it might have been Harry Metcalfe, but I was heading northbound so only a fleeting glimpse and no way to see the plate over the cnetral reservation.

What's with the stickers? I've only just noticed that they all have the same "sponsors", are they just given a load of stickers by the organizers or something?

Gumball is just a sponsored show-off club for people like "Shmee" now. It's not what is was when it started up, when it was basically a cross-continent road race :D

I've never taken part and never would but the Gumball was started as a transcontinental booze and drug bender, which is what it still is today. It wasn't and never has been a race, unlike the Cannonball which was very much an illegal race. Unless you consider Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Goldie to be serious racers?

They are provided and must be fitted in order to participate, plus the £50k entry fee.

There was definitely racing and other shenanigans. A few people had crashes, got arrested at borders etc.

It's always been a silver spoon club though.

There is a banger version of it which sounds a lot more entertaining.

People doing stupid stuff doesn't make it a race. There isn't and never has been any timing, there's no places, no competitive authorisation, no prizes, nothing. Just ridiculous behaviour in and out the cars. Calling it a race is giving it far more credit than it deserves really.

Unless you think that this Gumball is in any way connected to or a continuation of the Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Dash aka the Cannonball? Which it isn't.

Nothing special but I guess the car has a special connection to someone and is most likely more rare than most Ferrari's.

Plate on it was worth more than the car. Ford Focus SVT so a USDM car. Not sure why you would import one considering the ST170 existed but I would hazard a guess it has lived on an American base for most of its life. M.O.T's go back to 2007 so could have quite easily been brought in brand new.

Could even be the only Focus SVT in the country!
