Why do dash cams annoy so many people? Don’t read the thread if you don’t like it.

That last video is interesting, you have to wonder what goes through peoples minds.

Why do dash cams annoy so many people?

When it has come up in conversation at work, etc. knowing the standard of driving of those expressing an opinion IMO it is because they are complacent, lazy drivers who have no intention of improving the standard they drive to so they don't like anything that might make them feel like they should try and do better.

The first video annoys me greatly, on phone with kid and in a rush has to be the most selfish thing you can do with a young passenger who has no control over your actions. but if your not going to hand it that police hotline then I see no point in getting ancy about it.

The other was an innocent accident by that lorry that will probably fall back on the routing company for sending them through such cramped roads and the undertaking is meh.

Because most of the time completely avoidable situations occur because of them simply to justify using or owning one.

Though it makes up a disproportionate amount of the footage in monthly roundup videos on YT, etc. that is only a minority of users.

They have their uses, which I'm not disputing.

It is something I have mixed feelings about - I've twice had incidents of people coming the wrong way along a dual-carriageway at me where I've submitted footage to the police resulting in them losing their licence, one was a 90 year old who had to surrender their licence which sucks but another day there is a high chance of a serious or fatal accident.

In another instance I've footage of someone having a bit of fun with a McLaren 720 but wouldn't submit that as they were perfectly safe but some other people would.

Haha yeah generally:
DashCams UK - the dash cam holder is often in the wrong.
DashCams Australia - fights.

Do any of these really count as dashcam videos if no one shouts "YOU'RE ON DASHCAM MAYTE" or "YOU'LL BE ON YOUTUBE LATER"? :p

Poor road positioning by the driver, he’d have been well aware of the parked van (especially being left hand drive) and he should have known the rear overhang on the trailer will step out markedly on a tight turn.

The cost will fall on the poor van owners as I didn’t see the dash cam hero stopping to leave any details and the driver wouldn’t have seen his trailer hit the van nor felt it even though he should have allowed for it.

Bloody truckers! :D

I tweeted them and got some free ZipVan credit.

Cape on, dash cam hero!

I've got a dashcam in my car, installed it around a year ago and to date have never downloaded a clip.

I got it as a just in case, with the rise in crap driving and people not admitting liability or even fabricating a new story after the event to try and apportion blame it's there just in case. Last years on a traffic lighted roundabout, my lights turned green so me and the car next to me started going, had to slam on the brakes as a car jumped the lights and sped across us. Avoided a collision but had there been an accident I doubt the other driver would have admitted that they jumped the lights but the dashcam footage would shown that they did!

Dashcam footage also saved my son being charged with reckless/aggressive driving. The police behind had apparently witnessed him being aggressive and pulled him over. His word against theirs and they were adamant. He told them he had a dashcam, so they reviewed the footage, turned out that it was in fact the car in front of him that they were interested in but they were adamant that it was him until they reviewed the footage.

Daahcam prevented police taking further action when a cyclist complained to the police (even though I already reported it) and wanted me done for dangerous driving.

Police offer looked at the dashcam footage I had and said I had no case to answer.

DPD Drivers: Red lights are optional.
To be fair there was no way he was getting from the outside lane to the inside without going through on red.

I hate that junction with the DPD van.
If you get in the right lane from the start and watch every other vehicle, cyclist and pedestrain like a hawk and make many allowances for ********* its perfectly fine.
