got a call saying it failed for one of the rears being winter and the other normal summer.

So not only were they the ditchiest of ditch finders but they were miss matched too.
Imo mot station should have scrapped the car and sent police round to slap your bum bum.

I don't follow...? It failed for having one winter tyre on an axle so I told the garage to put 2 new tyres on. The odd winter tyre and the tyre on the other side were on the car when I got it.

Maybe the police should investigate the garage too because they passed the MOT the previous year with the same odd winter tyre and summer tyre on the same rear axle.

The 2 new budget tyres the garage put on were Kenda's. Jeez. Talking to some folk on here is like an example why I no longer work with the general public.

ok getting serious now no messing about. in the past iv seen cars failed on mot for wrong sized tyre on same axle. e.g a 205/55/15 with a 195/50/15.
iv never seen anyone fail a car due to tyre pattern difference on same axle.
i dont know if the rule is different if its a 4x4 land rover etc. so that does seem odd.

Dunno about MOT fail but the difference in the way the different compounds work in different conditions can seriously affect the vehicle in some circumstances - you could end up extremely destabilised if conditions are actually well into the range of one or other of the tyres.

One of the downsides of sticking on stuff like these Turanzas I'm using - having to replace just one with something very different due to availability or something is far from ideal.

Overtakes at the start of NSL then brakes hard for lorry turning, speeds up and carries on speeding through 30 zone only braking for the speed camera then speeds up again. Only for me to catch him up again in traffic a couple of minutes later.

A lesson for @mjt right here.

Nothing particularly interesting but

On my way home from work driver comes up behind me doing around 50 in a 30 - acts impatient tries to get around me a couple of times - get to the dual-carriageway and they come around me at about 50 and then just sit at about 48-50 (granted the weather wasn't great) at first I thought they were just doing it to annoy me for "holding" them up in the 30 (I'd been at 30 so not like I was going slow) but nope they they continued at about 50 for as long as I saw them.

Probably more amusing to me than anyone else but #rurallife

I just stuck the tunes on and sat back (hence no audio). There was a nice long queue behind me as well.

in fairness to the first one ive been caught like that .overtaken something then realised crap its really dark so slowed down because of road conditions , he probably didnt realise how bad it was till he passed you :)

as regards tyres i really think the garages must shoulder some blame ...oh you need new tyres .either this price or this price people will take the lower price cause tyre are tyres arnt they..:( thats how most people think . i didnt sell many tyres when i was in business cause i stayed away from cheaper brands but over the last few years seeing members of the family and friends telling me what great deals there garage gave them on new tyres and then being dismayed as some of them i cant even pronounce does make me worry..

When you're on the phone to the garage while at work being told you need 2 tyres to pass MOT so you can collect car on the way home so you can get home and back to work the next day, you just take what they have. All very well asking for XX tyre from XX brand and then being told they can't get them in until the day after tomorrow because they have missed the cut off point. Just more hassle. If I'm buying tyres myself I like to read the reviews etc, no point in paying the garage a premium for their "dearer" tyres if they still turn out to have a rubbish rating.

They came up behind me about 2-3 minutes before the video started doing around 50 MPH in the 30, sat there moving side to side, etc. as if trying to tell me to get a move on and went out to go around me first possible chance they got... but then just sat there - if it wasn't for the vehicle ahead and being unsure if they were actually going to speed up or not I'd have put my foot down and left them at the NSL sign.

I just find it a bit strange as I always stick strictly to the limit in built up areas but on the open road a bit of a different matter but there seems to be quite a few people who just do a constant 40 or constant 50 everywhere.

Off the top of my head the nearest sign of pedestrians in road is about a mile away (EDIT: Just checked on Google maps - 1.46km so pretty close and that is specific to an earlier section really).

Perhaps an email to the council pointing out the danger and requesting additional appropriate signage might be in order?

Wasn't hogging lane 2. There is no need to weave in and out when you are going to be overtaking upcoming traffic. Go and get some up to date driver education.

If a Copper had been behind you for that amount of time I reckon you would have had a flash or something.
Drivers get fined for that sort of thing and there's only you who can't see it.
Just own it.

You absolutely were. 20 seconds is outrageous when there's a quicker car behind you - and he had space to change lanes, go past you and go back into your lane again still without reaching the car you were apparently staying in lane 2 to overtake.

By the time you reached that car, you'd been in the wrong lane for almost a minute! If you don't recognise that as lane hogging, there's no hope for you.

You should always report taxis to the licencing office. Next door's mrs works in the dept in my town. Once they recieve a report they're obligated to investigate and take appropiate action if necessary. She told me that if they get a report, ignore it and then the driver ends up continuing to drive like a **** and someone gets hurt then they're in the doo-doo too.

There was nothing behind. He came up behind and immediately moved into lane 1 for the undertake while I was moving over to let him past.

He is a **** and I've seen him do **** quite a few times now so **** him I'm not going to move for him.
