Creating this thread for people to post their line stats that are on the FTTC service.
This thread is to gauge line speed over distance and get a better understanding of FTTC (VDSL)

Does not matter if you are on the 8c or 17a profile all line stats are welcome.

for those of you that have not unlocked the BT modem yet (not HH3)

A MASSIVE thanks to asbokid for his work in unlocking the modem and providing the firmware.

There is a guide here and firmware, you will need a google account. https://docs.google.com/viewer?pid=...rel=zip;z4;hg612_unlock_instructions_v1.3.pdf

PDF here. https://docs.google.com/viewer?pid=...rel=zip;z4;hg612_unlock_instructions_v1.3.pdf

the unlocked firmware can be downloaded here http://www.mediafire.com/?fsac1u39tey47r0

Alternative download links.

http://www.mediafire.com/?fsac1u39tey47r0

Please make sure that you use the correct firmware the SP06 or SP10 will be written on the back of your modem.

Once unlocked there is a wealth of information and a few tweaks.

Best tweak is turning off QOS which gives a nice 1mbs boost on your upload speeds.

To get better stats than the GUI of the modem use Telnet, this must be enabled in the control panel/programs&features/turn windows features on or off.

Once in telnet type in 192.168.1.1

type SH

xdslcmd info --pbParams

to see what profile you are on type

xdslcmd info --show

For those of you that are already on 17a and saved their 8c stats could you please post both.

ill start.

Got my install yesterday! First thing was to ditch the HH3, install a Routerboard 750G in PPPoE mode. Also hacked the modem to get line stats.

I seem to have pretty high ping time on the UK, between 20 and 30+ms somehow.

Still on 8c:
Code:
Max:	Upstream rate = 17296 Kbps, Downstream rate = 48804 Kbps
Path:	0, Upstream rate = 9995 Kbps, Downstream rate = 39999 Kbps

Link Power State:	L0
Mode: VDSL2 Annex B
VDSL2 Profile: Profile 8c
TPS-TC: PTM Mode
Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status:	Showtime
		Down Up
SNR (dB): 12.1 21.7
Attn(dB): 0.0 0.0
Pwr(dBm): 7.0 -22.6

This is peak hour so not ideal speedtest...

Very nice stats, when I first got enabled I too was getting 48mbit attainable rate, so I would day your line is sub 200 meters at that snr, I think you will get 95-99mbit on the 17a profile with a 30+mbit upload.

Have you done the QOS tweak for faster upload?

Yeah I did that. I'm still wondering why I have a bit more latency than others; it's possible the line is still being "monitored" or something. Can't complain tho, I do expect to be maxed up when they upgrade to 80/20 eventually.

I downloaded an experimental torrent last night, more or less on purpose, and It was still pretty fast it seems, so so far, apart from losing my Be fixed IP, all seems well...

Depends where you are in the country, also I get better ping just by getting a different IP, some of the BT centrals are loaded and routed differently and the difference can be 10ms.

also the BT 21cn 10gig link seems to be good for me, I get 12ms pings to bbc etc not to bad for living in the middle of the country,

I thought give this a bump for the flurry of new connections any stats would be appreciated.

I would also like to add at the end of this month the FTTC checker is being updated to show the estimated speeds you will get with the 17A profile (80/20mb product).

Hello guys, has anyone unlocked an ECI Modem type 1B REV 2A304.

This is what fitted on my Infinity install. Wanted to replace it with a Modem/Router A Draytek 2750n but Cannot get the Draytek to sync to the Infinity via the DSL port on the unit Draytek say that is BT Infinity suitable but cannot get mine to work as yet!!!

Any info would be good

if you can give me some screen shots of the vdsl config on your router I will try to help you.

damn, there is no unlock for your BT business modem. phone BT and ask for the EchoLife HG 612, a swap out.

To be honest I can't seeing taking long now for VDSL routers to start popping up at reasonable prices.
