Ok, hard drives are one of the slowest computer components. Lets see how yours compares. . .

Tell us model, make and specs including buffer size, interface, RPM, and RAID configuration if applicable. :D

Then, post a benchmark using:

HD Tune 2.54: Grab me here!
Or
Hd Tach 3.0 Grab me here!

Anyone care to tell me why the sudden dip in squiffy's first benchmark? I'm not really up to scratch on the world of HDD's. :p

There are some AAKS benchmarks in this thread but they're all RAID0 arrays, no single drives

The dip in squiffy's trace is likely to be due to another process accessing the disk while the benchmark was running.

Yea, i was hoping for single drives.

I thought as much i just didn't think it would have so much of an impact.

I'm using that 80GB as boot drive, would I notice the difference between a newer SATA drive, or once in Windows does it not matter that much? I have plenty of RAM so should help. Nothing else is on the 80GB drive
