Post your hard drive benchmarks!

Decide to Bench my HTPC today - it consists of a 640gb Western Digital green power drive & Samsung 1tb F1 . Write cache enabled on both drives on an AM2 platform

Not bad considering this machine is nearly three years old now.

I'm going to swap out the disk sytem soon to an AMC/3ware 9550SXU SATA RAID card and 4 x 1TB Samsung F1's in RAID5 I'll post a comparison when its done.

Here we go my new array 3x Samsung F1 320gb in raid 0

Seems a pretty poor result was hoping for quite a bit more to be honest. am using nvidia onboard raid 750i any recomendations would be welcome, was considering getting a hardware raid card but that will have to wait.

I've no experience of that chipset, but typically onboard RAID is only really software RAID. i.e. theres no cache memory and processing involved.

Check out the Adaptec and 3ware proper RAID cards, but expect to pay £200+ for a 4 port one.

Just installed a 3Ware 9550 SXU in my work machine with 4 x Samsung spintpoint F1 1Tb in RAID 5. Finishing installing Vista 64 as we speak. I'll post some benchmarks a little later.
