Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Pretty decent setup, nice going, though im considering a DLP projector, do you notice any of this rainbow effect on the Sagem?

Two words though regarding consoles that are a must.

nope have not noticed any of the rainbow effect at all. from what ive read these were early model glitches. the only thing i noticed at the start was a slight motion sickness feeling till i got used to the tv.

Got rid of most of my previous system on fleabay. Will be building a new 7.1 setup when I get my stuff out of storage & into my new house (detached thankfully) See updated specs below, along with intended specs:

At work so no pics, but here is my Home Cinema/Hi-Fi setup:

Hitachi 32" Widescreen TV (Soon to be replaced with 42" Plasma)

Now to be replaced with JVC LT-32DS6 32" Widescreen LCD Television once I'm moved into the house (to link upto the HDMI output of my DVD player). I also intend to get either an Themescene, Infocus or Sim 2 Projector & motorised screen, linked upto my DVD player via a HDMI splitter unit (so I can use the LCD panel to display menus from DVD Audio discs).

Pioneer DV-939A Multi Region DVD Audio/Video Player (Champagne Case)Sold

Now replaced with a Pioneer DV-AV868AVi-S Universal Player (for iLink & HDMI output)

Yamaha DSP E300 Dolby Digital/DTS Processor Sold

ROTEL RC970BX Stereo Pre-Amplifier Sold

ROTEL RB970BX Stereo Power Amplifier (Switched to Bridged Mono 120W) Sold

ROTEL RB970BX Stereo Power Amplifier (Switched to Bridged Mono 120W) Sold

The above ROTELs are used to playback CDs in Direct Mode

ROTEL RB976 6 Channel Power Amp (Switched to 3 Channel Bridged Mono 120W per channel) Sold

The above power amp kicks in with the other 2 bridged mono amps to provide 120W to each of the 5 channels in my home cinema setup

All the above amplification now replaced with a Pioneer VSX-AX5Ai-S Receiver (to link up to the iLink output on my DVD player). Which means I've now replaced 5 boxes with one (even if the one box does weigh over 21kg)

REL Strata II Powered Subwoofer for the all important .1 channel Selling

TDL RTL4 Main Stereo Floorstanding speakers (spiked on a couple of concrete paving slabs) Sold

Tannoy 611 Centre Speaker Sold

JPW Gold Surround Speakers Sold

To replace the above speaker setup, I am purchasing a Tannoy Arena satellite & sub package, with the addition of another 2 sats for a 7.1 setup. Which will end up costing me 2 grand alone.

All linked together with a combination of QED, Van den Huul & Cable Talk cables/interconnects.
Needless to say it has some clout.

However I'm thinking in getting shot of it all & getting a Pioneer HDMI & Firewire linked DVD player, Plasma & Amp.

So as you can see I'm having a major Home Cinema overhaul & followed my original upgrade plans, apart from ditching getting a Plasma.
I'll either post in this thread once I install my new setup, or I'll start up a new thread.

Cheers.

Cheers. Has taken a while to get it to the stage it's at, but was definately worthwhile.

Scarily small world! The speaker cable on show is used for the rear, the front/centre have some beefy silver cable (makes an amazing difference!)

Very basic setup here...

AMP - Arcam Alpha 7R
CD - Marantz CD63OSE LE
SPEAKERS - Kef Coda 8 (wish I'd saved for the 9's!)
SPEAKER CABLE - Cable Talk 3.1
INTERCONNECTS - Cambridge Audio Pacific
STANDS - Atacama (old but effective)
HEADPHONES - Beyer Dynamic DT231

Like I said, basic... but it sounds great and works well together! Line out from the PC sounds reasonable too!

Question... does anyone think a better interconnect will make a difference with the above..?

Cheers all :)

I can't believe how small that centre speaker makes the plasma look! Nice setup.

Whoops, I have been at it again. Sold my Meridian 507 cd player and Toshiba 9500 DVD player, now the proud owner of a PSM equiped TAG DVDFLR. Always dreamed of owning some TAG and now I have 7k's worth (well it would have been a year ago!).
