New system

Hey guys
im in the process of setting up my bedroom into a bachelor pad, im ordering the 42" Samsung PS42V6SX < which you should look up its really beautifull :D, basically i have NOT the slightest idea about sound, i have drawn up my room on autocad if thats needed, but could really use some advice on seting up a sound system worthy of the tv above ^ all advice on this thread/pm/messenger would be much appreciated, i want to use the tv also for my pc monitor, my current system for that is AMD 4000+ / 2GB corsair ram / a8us deluxe / GeForce 7800 GTX .. also looking for a good sound card if that relates lol as i said any advice would be great
xx

I have 2 systems, a home cinema system and a hi-fi.

They both share the main L&R speakers until we move house next year and the hi-fi gets its own room!!

Home Cinema

Arcam AV8 THX Ultra 2 Certified Processor
Arcam P7 THX Ultra 2 Certified 7 Channel Power Amp
Arcam DV27A DVD Player
Proac CC6 Centre Channel
Proac Response D25 Speakers (L&R)
M&K SS150 Tripole Rear Speakers (2 pairs)
M&K MX350 THX Certified Subwoofer
Toshiba 36" CRT (getting replaced by a 50" Pioneer just after Xmas!!)

All Chord Cabling and Isotek Mains

Sounds awesome, the subwoofer can literally take your breath away and slap you in the chest, scary bass.

Hi Fi

Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista Amplifier (only 500 in the world)
Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista SACD Player (only 800 in the world)
Same Proac D25's as above
Nordost Valhalla Interconnect
Nordost Vishnu Mains Cable
Nordost Valkrja Speaker Cable

Sounds superb, still a joy to listen, never get tired of it.

Too many toys, but hey why not!!

No rugrats yet and the other half is not too bothered about me getting so much stuff as long as we get to go on Holiday regularly and do stuff she's in to as well.

Got married in October, Plasma for Xmas or just after, then hopefully house move in Spring then hopefully kids!!

No more toys or upgrades for a while once that happens

If I'm honest though I'm looking forward to it!

Nantucket, kids with that setup is a recipe for disaster. Out of the goodness of my heart, I'll help take some of it of your hands when they arrive, for the little ones sakes obviously! I'm good like that you see. ;)

lol, nice reply!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean about it not being overly sprog friendly. Sounds good though :D

I think when the time is right the main hardware will end up behind closed doors in a nice cabinet or something and the speakers will end up with the grilles on to avoid fingers through tweeters. Of course I could just ban them from the living room!

Just added some Glass shelves to my setup, still need to sort the optical cable and hide that blue neon better + get a RGB Component board ready for my pre ordered 360, but its coming along well quite happy with the setup :)

Sorry for the poor quality mega rush when taken!

Not sure actually.

If I go for a projector, I'll be getting a 32" TV to use for non-projectory things ;) so for the cost of the PJ and TV, I'll be able to pick up a 42" Plasma.

Before i got the Panny i have a really nice Widescreen Panasonic projector, while it was a huge image and had quite a short throw i always had problems viewing during the day you could see the image alright but it was always slightly washed out....

Kept that about a month till i got cheesed off sold it and got the Plasma instead, never looked back had it a year gone last month and its been great, get a good screen though don't get tempted by cheap ones just so you can say i've got a 42" plasma!

Pictures are really bad quality but you get the idea. its about 77" diagonal not the best projector in the world just a cheapy :) does the job tho :) its better than my dad's LCD which he paid nearly 3 times as much for

Custom built the wall i think it adds that?? professional look???

nothing fancy in the AV setup. a Kenwood 6050D amplifier and everything else isnt worth talking about...
