Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Wow, theres some super nice stuff in here! I just have a boring TV, so I wont post that, but we have a projector for games, films, and sports events, which is a bit more interesting!

The Xbox and free view box both go into the projector.

BenQ, cant remember the model, it was only £480 and works nice.

I tried to take a pic but its kinda hard with my camera.

The sound goes into a Marantz PM4400 and some Yamaha speakers, ill look up the model numbers.

Pretty basic and low end compared to the stuff you guys have, but does us fine :)

An update on my gear:

Marantz PM7200
MARANTZ CD6000Ki
B&W DM601S3
Van De Hul 'The Name' IC
Qudos Silver Speaker Cable
Atacama Equinox Hi-Fi Rack
Sennheiser RS45 Wireless Headphones

A pair of Sennheiser RS45's. About 2 years old now, the sound they produce is perfectly acceptable. Not as good as the newer models but works well enough for late night listening when everyone else is sleeping. Range is very good and there isnt any distortion unless you turn them up loud.

Well my setup has changed somewhat since last summer, so thought an update was due! As I will be moving house in the nearish future, I have not invested any money in AV racks etc for the new kit (thus the wooden coffee tables).

From what sub to what sub ?

My HiFi :)

http://www.fixit-4u.net/mrk/root/videos/speakers.htm

It's not super expensive but it does create very nice sound from Moonlight Sonata to the fine tuned lyrics and beats from Dead Prez and the guitar work of Jack Johnson, every audible low and high is heard perfectly and the lows that are inaudible are felt \m/

Towers are rated each
100w
91dB
6ohms

Never really found the need to move to 5.1 or better else I'd have gotten a yamaha receiver but stereo is doing me super fine for games movies and music now and for the forseable future too, they don't make speakers and receivers like they used to back in the early 90's

No pics, but my incomplete hifi system is as follows,

Amp: Yamaha RXV-800rds (I know this aint the best music amp, which is why my system is incomplete)

cd player: Marantz CD63 mk2 Ki Signature (well happy with this little gem, had it about 8yrs now probably good for a few more yet)

HTPC: Silverstone Lascala XP2500+ (pretty basic system but serves its purpose)

Speakers: Monitor audio Silver S8's (my system insults these beautys. Need a much better amp as I know how good these CAN sound - Naim would be nice)

Hifi rack: Atacama 4 tier (had this for about 8yrs)

Will update that system when I can afford to....

PC not so hifi setup

using Yamaha RXV for now

Speakers: Tannoy MX1's (work well as pc speakers imo)

Bog std source from PC cd and onboard sound on my Asus A8N Sli premium.

Thats about it till I win the lottery!!!

Finally got my 7.1 setup up & running. Seems like I've been waiting for my additional 2 speakers for an eternity (well nearly 3 months for Tannoy to get them back in stock).

Here's some pics, followed by the component list:

Front-L-R-C-and-System.jpg

Surround-Left-Back-Left.jpg

Surround-Backs.jpg

Components are as follows:

JVC LT-32DS6BJ LCD Panel
Pioneer DV-868-AVi-S DVD Universal Multi Region DVD Player (connected to panel via Bandridge Profigold HDMI cable. Connected to Receiver via i-link digital cable)

Pioneer VSX-AX5Avi-S AV Receiver (connected to panel via QED component cable in order to view setup menus. Also ready for video switching an Xbox 360 providing it outputs a 720p signal)

NTL Cable decoder (connected via RGB QED Sqart cable to remote switch-box. To get audio from NTL though I have to connect the TV to the receiver via analog phono cables. No digital audio outputs at all on the NTL box. Total letdown!)
Joytech 4-way remote controlled scart switcher (connected to panel via RGB QED Sqart cable (lets my better half use her Gamecube without me having to trail more than one scart connection to the TV)
Soundstyle Audio rack (about 10 years old & still going strong. Will eventually be replaced by an Arca Nuevo cabinet to hide away the components)

Tannoy Arena 7.1 speaker setup. 6 dual concentric satellites, dual concentric + midbass unit centre channel speaker & active subwoofer (sounds fantastic with movies & music & looks nice & tidy to boot).
All satelites connected with a total of 100 metres of QED installation speaker cable. Sub connected to receiver via Bandridge Profigold sub cable. All surround speaker cables dropped behind drywalling & concealed in trunking above skirting board. Front speaker cables concealed under carpet edges. It got the better half's seal of approval so I must have done a good job.

I'm thinking of widening the front imaging by placing the left & right speakers further apart. When I can be bothered lifting the carpet edges again.

I have plans to install a projector later this year. So then the LCD panel will be relegated to secondary duties of general TV watching & viewing DVD Audio menus. Very pleased with the setup all in all.

I've got a good few photos knocking about from when I was installing my setup. So I may do a thread showing the install if I can be bothered.

Music is usually played on the CD player, but can be streamed wirelessly across from the PC via iTunes to the small Airport device plugged in to the AUX input on the preamp (actually comes in handy more than you'd imagine). The Xbox 360, Sky+ and Sony DVD player are all hooked up to the Viewsonic Projector via a variety of leads, but the end result means it's easy enough to switch between these with a press of a single remote!

There is a pulldown 60 inch x 60 inch screen which I mounted on blocks of wood above my cupboard doors. Handy to store away (rollable) and is actually not that noticable when fully folded away - took some calculating when mounting the projector, otherwise went smoothly

I'd say the next thing to buy is a nicer DVD surround sound setup, as this is ageing, and then eventually upgrade the TV when Sky HD rears its head

Well my humble setup is no where near as good as many of you but I have just started getting into the home cinema idea.

I have no pics at the moment but I will upload as soon as possible. Here are my various components:

Audio

Amp: Pioneer SX-550 (This was my dad's first proper amp and still works a treat :D)
CD Player: Technics SL-PG580A (my first proper cd player and still going strong)
Speakers: Kenwood KL-4040 (Again from my dad's old system)

Visual

TV: Sony KDFE50U12A 50" Rear Projection 3LCD
XBOX 360 Premium (Connected via component)
XBOX (Connected via composite)
MCE 2K5 (Connected via DVI)

Fairly basic I know but it does everything I want. Next thing I think i will get is a surround sound setup to take full advantage of all the next gear I have recently got.

Cambridge Audio AZUR 640A (Amplifier)
Cambridge Audio AZUR 640C (CD Player)
Cambridge Audio AZUR 640T (Tuner DAB)
Cambridge Audio AZUR 540D (DVD Player)
Mission 782's (Speakers) (Floorstanders)

I've thought about upgrading my speakers but they sound awsome so i decided against that idea.

Sweet setup man.

I was contemplating the Cambridge Audio stuff, whats it like? I'm a firm believer of keeping the same brand throughout - I hate people with mismatching stuff, looks out of place.

Pics of mine soon (tomorrow). Been recording a documentary with the BBC today :D

It looks nice in a room having all the matching gear. I'd love to be able to afford Naim's newer seperates, although I might have to go for their older stuff that is a bit more my price range.

@ d.chatten, any probs with the main drivers in the mission's? I was well tempted by the Missions and I was gonna get the 782's but I read a lot at the time that the main drivers bleed and this was a common problem apparently. Managed in the end to get some MA silver S8's for less than half price. Which was the price of the missions.
