Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

In WHS V1 I use file dupliaction that has 2 copies of each file across multiple disks.

Having a server with media on thats not backed up or at duplicated is barmy:eek:

I will be retiring my WHS V1 machine soon and going windows 8 ,parity and storage spaces.

WHS 2011 doesn't have this feature and is a poor choice for a lot of data imo.

Think I need to bite the bullet and just get win8 tbh, nice little pot of cash building at the moment, I expect to be broke end of Feb :D

Cables now tidied up. New grille cloth on speakers, makes them look a lot more presentable. Just need to paint the rest of the room, build the shelving under the tv and find some suitable carpet. Thoroughly enjoying the new tele though, looks so small in the photo's but it's definitely big enough for me. (done the 65"+ with a projector once and that was just a bit too big. Mainly uncomfortable due to the heat though)

Homemade kef chorale speakers
6.5" ceiling mounted rear speakers
Luxman L-220 stereo integrated amp (fronts)
Marantz S4200 A/V receiver (centre and rear)
Panasonic P50UT50B 50" plasma
Panasonic BDT120 bluray
Cambridge audio DVD57
Topfield 5810 500gb PVR
Marantz CD-56
Philips CD930
Thorens TD 160B turntable & SME 3009 arm

Need to find a centre speaker that matches those homemade kef speakers. Even with advice from A/V forums I haven't come up with anything solid. Closest match based on drive units would be a spendor as it uses the same 22mm seas tweeters. Trouble is I don't want to spend £300+ on a centre speaker. Been considering running a pseudo centre via the front speakers instead.

Could Windows 8 run on an N36L/N40L Microserver to be used as a backup for various other PCs and servers running other Windows versions (Vista, 7, WHS?) or would you need the whole environment on Win8?

Im going to run Win8 on a 40L, set it to not reboot unless I want it to and use the storage spaces

No chance is the answer! :D Or you could say its a side table?

I do wish I could get a BK over here easily, but the shipping would double the price. One day.

Seen a few people who have raised their centres at an angle. Going off Howards comments before, I'm tempted to give this a go if its a relatively small outlay.

Anyone got any suggestions/links to some risers to do such a job? :)

TIA,
Jake

How much did your home made kef's cost you? Cause ideally you'd have 3 identical speakers up front vertically, so ideally you'd have another one of your kef speakes for the centre, but I have no idea how much they cost to make. :p

They were very cheap to build, circa £150 in parts. Problem is i can't fit a centre channel with B200 8" woofers. Kef made a B110 which is the 5" version of the driver, but they cost a small fortune due to their use in the LS3/5a. Second issue would be my crap wood working skills, whilst i can build a speaker cabinet that works well, i can't make one that looks good.

I did literally mean another identical speaker to one you've already made to be used as a centre.
