Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Finally built a new hi-fi rack. (based on the TNT flexy rack design) About £120 in total for 8 shelves. (would have been nearly £40 cheaper if i'd used exterior ply) Luckily the guy at B&Q cocked up one of the cuts and started again with a whole new sheet and gave me all the good cuts, so i have 14 shelves.

Part way through construction. Dome nuts used for feet

i used to build these stands 20 years ago

Very similar but the front and side's had curved fronts,i made one for myself and in-between the shelves i found some black/white pipe what you use for plumbing and found the size perfect and made the rack look finished.

Cant remember the name of the company i used to make the shelves for but there were a lot of money back then.

Wall mounted my new panasonic UT50 50" plasma.

Cables are just being tested to make sure they work. Picture is absolutely stunning compared to what i've been used to. Very glad i went plasma instead of LED. Superb black level and colours. Really shows the benefits of bluray vs DVD.

The protective film is still on the surround. (but will be coming off)

Nice screen Heofz :D When I move on from my Kuro (perish the thought!) I think that'll be something that i'll be looking at.... after I win the lottery of course!

Its a shame about the carpet lamp and chintz :o
meh. It's still a family living room and despite its size the thing doesn't dominate too aggressively. Very happy with it.

Thanks :) I cannot recommend it highly enough. A good friend of mine at work has a dedicated cinema room with an HD projector setup with soundproofing etc and both he and I agree that this setup trumps his without a second thought. The blacks are really deep, the colours are extremely vivid, and the motion is perfectly fluid. Feels like you are actually in the film itself! :D

Just setup my new AVR.. Yamaha RX-A3010 to replace my old Denon 2311..

It sits together with

HTPC in Origen ae enclosure
Sony BDP
Samsung 7700
MA RX8, RX1, RX Centre
Wharfdale Diamond 10 MX sub

Microserver 13TB
Software : WHS, Mezzmo & XBMC frodo

larger pic

or a smaller AV cabinet!

Thats a 46" screen, and my room is only 4m wide from screen to sofa, so I am not sure its enough space for a projector.. a 55" would do nicely though once my missus forgets about the AVR purchase :)

what do you reckon?
