Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Hi guys very nice photos there.

I'm after a bit of advice re cable management

I have and old (12 year old Sony surround sound system wired) SKY TV apple TV and router all in the same area)

Here are some pics.

My wife wants it tidy but I've no idea how to go about it everytime I strip everything out and install again the spaghetti behind the stand ends up the same way.

She likes the TV unit so swapping out isn't an option sadly.

Any ideas anyone else have the same problem?

Have a look for D-line cable tidy unit :)

My setup

Rega RP1
Rotel RCD-965BX
Nakamichi Cassette Deck 2
Yamaha A-S500
Raspberry Pi2 with Meridian Explorer 2 DAC
JPW Sonata Speakers

I've had the Rotel and Nak from new from back in the late 80's and early 90's plus i've had my speakers for about 27 years

Was using a Bowers & Wilkins Aura evolution amp for years with this setup which i loved but one channel went down and was going to send it off to be looked at but when it was on the floor cat walked up to it and was sick all over it

I had one of those Rotel CD players about 10 years ago.
Was a good bit of kit. In fact. I think I gave it to my dad and he's still using it to this day. :)

Will be putting up a full build log for this room and the entire house now I'm coming to a break point in the upgrade of my new house :)

Started out somewhere like this,

Bricked up the fireplace, cabling through the office above, lighting and various other jobs and cladding got us to somewhere around ...

And now I've got a small list of jobs left, and also one acoustical issue left as I have a massively uneven response around 47Hz (will post the response graphs in the full build thread when I have a free evening to put it all together!)

The setup basically consists of the below,

ATC SCM50SL-AT in rosewood
ATC C1C Centre
Monitor Audio BXFX Surrounds

AudioLab 8200DQ
Onkyo TX-NR1009
Denon DN-500BD
Logitech Squeezebox
4th Gen Apple TV
Epson EH-TW3200

I'm still thinking about what subwoofer I'm going to use, basically a toss up between the matching ATC C6 or go much cheaper (given it'll only be used for movie use anyway) SVS PB-13Ultra. I've also got some tuned absorption to purchase and install now I've been able to measure the room, and also some blackout curtains with Kilowool behind. It is used more so for music than movies, hence the slightly wonky spending on components!

Nice job, good to see some serious consideration of room response here! How do you find the ATCs? Supposedly some of the finest midrange drivers those domes.

Yeah I had a lot of exposure to ATCs previously from doing various audio production work and I spent a long time looking at other speaker options but after several years of searching I just decided 'screw it' and bought a pair. The mid is as everyone claims - really great! What really gets me though is the transient response - the way ATC match amps with their speakers is excellent and with a punchy track it is just so involving, and your listening level gets surprisingly loud!

I would never even consider going back to passive speakers now (although I don't think I'm going to be allowed to ever change these after the Mrs eyes practically fell out seeing the price of these!) they are cracking speakers :)

Acoustics are a personal interest of mine, I did my undergrad dissertation around acoustics and cannot understand why people spend so much on hifi but won't even blow a grand or two on tuning the room!

I don't think I've ever posted my hardware on here, To save a bit of bandwidth on my site here it is.

Kit:

Panasonic TXL32-E5 telly.

Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-ray player (in case my HTPC can't play a blu-ray)

Denon AVRX-4000 (bought 2nd hand)

Velodyne Deco speaker system (6 speakers & a Sub instead of 5 I got the dealer to sell me an extra speaker)

Epson TW3200 Projector.(2nd hand again)

The bottom PC is the HTPC.

Holy crap, those ATCs are epic. Very low WAF on those though.

Here's my infrequently used and mostly abused setup. Used to have a fantastic vinyl front end and decent CD, but have retired/sold them up in favour of Chromecast and a VDAC (preempting death by toddler). Main offenders are Alchemist Forseti integrated amp, Mission 782s and the aforementioned digital abortion.

Blimey, yes, well remembered!

Still there and still going strong despite many, many fires. It's not worn out its welcome yet, but I'm getting to the point where something bigger would be welcome. It'll live forever though, I know it will!

I always remembered it because I have one as well. Still in daily use, must be getting on for 8 years old now.

I stuck a few fans in the back of mine to keep it cool, hope to get a few more years out of it. It'll be a real shame when it does go because nothing I've seen has caught my eye like the Panny.

My little set, please ignore the wires right of the TV. I have a 2 year old who would stick everything under the sun in my PS4 if she had the chance... So is temp living there!
