Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Chaps, I have a new build so all the walls are magnolia. The living room has laminate floors and a mainly black theme. I want to paint the wall behind the TV, any ideas? Not the best pics, sorry.

Where did you get the media unit from? You need something pretty big for the gold centre!

Latest Addition to the Room:

5kW Log Burner :)
Should have had this a long time ago as its cozy and warm.

Also added a Chromecast Audio to the setup too.

What a lovely place

Thanks.
The underfloor heating was costing me a fortune per month and it was taking forever to warm the room up so didn't see a better and cleaner option that to install a log burner.

Massive reduction in gas/electric bill which can inreturn be spend on AV upgrades.
Barely use the central heating in the house now as the heat from the LB warms the whole house up

Yeah our under floor heating will burn through 2300m3 of gas in a month kept on full (we forgot to turn it off before going on holiday). With underfloor heating you're suppose to keep it on all the time on a low(ish) setting. Switching it on/off doesn't work. We just use wood burners now and keep the upstairs rads on low 24/7.

Living room:

Also have a TX-P42GT50 in bedroom, I like my plasmas. Click for full size pics

Nice kit Danny.

How much did you pay for the GT60? I've been keeping an eye on a few Panasonic plasmas on eBay.

I've resided to the fact that my P42X10B will forever spend its life showing children's cartoons or crappy game shows... so I want something nice for movies.

I payed £250 for it off gumtree, I think I also payed around £250 for the GT50 upstairs, I am currently looking for a P50VT65 even though it will probably be too big for my living room I really want one lol.

Nice, I'll keep an eye out.

I was looking at buying a cheap LCD to allow the X10 to be used elsewhere, but for what I'd pay for an LCD, X10s aren't that much more expensive. As much as it pains me to leave a nice plasma doing such inane duties (and with only a few thousand hours run time), it didn't make much sense given how cheap some of the better models are.

I'm still running with some relatively old kit (17 years+) and have no intention of changing any of it. Posted the specs for this about 4 years ago but as I've just bought a new 75 inch 4k TV ....

Main Kit:

Meridian 596 transport
Meridian 562v Multimedia controller
Meridian 565 DSP
Meridian 505 monobloc amp - Centre
Meridian 556 amp - Surrounds
Meridian 557 amp - Mains

Kef Reference 3's
Kef 200c Centre
Kef 34DS dipole surrounds
BK XXLS400 Sub

Bits 'n bobs:

Missing link Cryo Reference Power chord - CD transport
Missing link Opus F power chord - DSP
Missing link Orbit power chord x2 - Power amps
Missing Link Binary Star Digital Interconnect
Missing link Cryo Reference Phono Interconnects
Missing Link Cryo Reference Speaker cables

Isotek Aquarious Power conditioner
Isotech Syncro pre conditioner

Herbie's Grungebuster - various sizes
Herbie's fat and thin dots
Herbie's tenderfeet - awesome
Herbie's spike grounding bases
DIY isolation platforms using various Herbie's materials

Superspikes plato for the centre speaker (ultimately decoupled from the av cabinet with fat/thin dots and grungebuster between / under the diy speaker stand, experimentation the key to getting the best combination).

I also have a Meridian dedicated CD transport but to my ears, the 596 does a better job.

Also have SkyQ and a couple of BluRay players in the leftmost unit.

The 'components' which made the most difference were the DIY accoustic panels and bass traps.

Spotted a calibrated P50GT60B locally. It was up for £600 but I'd seen GT50s for £250-300 so had a quick scour around AVForums for a ballpark price.

Made him an offer and went to have a look at it tonight. Bought it and somehow shoehorned it into the back of my car. Can't wait to get it side by side against my X10 and see what it can do.
