Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Turntable has now gone and one of the boxes has put on some height and some weight!.

Very pleased with the upgrade, CD player is next to go.

Very nice, I lvoe the look of NAIM kit. There is some subliminal in the green go saying 'buy me buy ME !!!!!'

-ad- mate, how much were the ATCs? I have always wanted one. I read a review ages ago saying how rich and smooth the sound was on them, can you confirm / deny this?

Got them 2nd hand (including the welded target stands filled with lead shots) probably over a year ago. Were on ebay, and asked the guy to take them off for £500 and would pickup with cash, no need for paypal. He agreed, and was happy to hear I needed stands to which he threw in for £40.

Really stunning, I mean just sao RAW, rather than rich and smooth. They just play whatever is on the CD, no matter how bad it is. For example I put the coors talk on corners in and pulled it out of the player within a minute. Horribly recorded and they show it, so never listened to it again. I love the revealing sound and colourlessness (lol word), but thers may want some colour for added fun. Horses for courses.

But you need to give them one hell of an amp, something like my lyngdorf, or maybe an older AVI labs series integrated. Not cheap things either, but when they are matched up with a capable amp of dealing with the inefficiency of them, it all works well. Hard to put it in words.

What unit is that? Exactly what i'm after.

Posted this way back when but can't seem to find it guys. Popping it up just made some ammendments to the attic room, changed the amp and speakers.
Here's my complete setup:

Here's the main living room with the following :
Pioneer PDP-LX608D 1080p (60inch, 8th generation plasma), Onkyo TX-SR875 (supports full 1080p upscaling, Dolby TrueHD sound DTS HD, and pcm 5.1, utterly amazing), Pioneer LX70A Blu-Ray player.
Speakers - Monitor Audio 5.1 Gold Series - 2* GS20 (Front), 2*GS10(back) 1*GSLCR(centre). Sub - Rel R505, quad core HTPC,

The speakers are utterly mind blowing, best money i've spent on speakers ever, man you guys should check out TrueHD sound and DTS HD it's crazy good! the sub is brilliant too. A good sub is everything in a sound system(imho)

And upstairs in the attic is my console gaming room

Attic - Infocus IN82 1080p, 100" 16:9 screen, Onkyo TR-SR606 amp and kef 5.1 speaker setup with sub.

Looks like a lovely setup - strange layout though, is that just because of the shape of the room? Only one floor stander?

Pretty much cos the room is super long though, the surround sound is very effective if sitting on the couch to the left.

The front speaker is above the television to the right, the two front speakers are spread out one to the left of the TV and one to the far right of the unit, it's strange but quite effective, undoubtedly the sound would be more effective in a square room, but the room is just super long best we could do really. Thought of putting it above the fire and getting rid of it, but it's too nice a feature to remove. so had to settle for where the TV is now. The speaker on top of the TV is the centre channel.

As others have said it is x2 LACK units. £70 in total.

The middle shelf in that DIY unit is equivalent to the top shelf on one of the LACKs on its own. It is the same as the bottom shelf, then just put 2 more of the side uprights into it, then plonk the top one on, and hey presto, a DUAL LACK.

Not enough space between the shelves for a normal consumer AV-amp like an onkyo, but perfect for more slimline units. Quality is pretty good too, but the top shelf does bend a bit with my 50 on there, but not surprised considering the distance between the uprights and the 5-kg weight. But it does have x2 movable metal uprights under the centre of mass of the tv to help distribute the load more evenly into the shelf below and the rest of the unit.

Its two LACK unit, one with the lower part removed and then stacked together.

Lads

Any chance one of you could give me an exact size of the height and width of the space for putting you equipment into these units?, wouldnt mind getting 2 and doing the stacking thing.

Cheers

Each internal area = 139cm x 15cm :)

Depth isn't something to worry about, I have a deep HD-DVD player in there and plenty of depth to spare.

Looks like a nice setup dude, but i cant help but imagine it would look swish with a glassy cabinet. Only my opinion though, you have nicer kit than me.

Thanks. its my first set up like this really. Im planning on getting some kinda cabinet but im not too keen on what ive seen so far
