Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Indeed, great job :D

My turn after moving back home to the parents, and a few new additions:

New stuff

- Yamaha DSP-E800 Processor + amp section powering the rear Monitor Audio B2s with uprated x-overs.
- BK Gemini mk2 in Cherry.
- Parents Sky+ for the time being before HD comes in a matter of weeks.
- Brothers X360.

Very nice -Ad-, I like the unit and the way the hardware is positioned.

Two tips:

First, get some cable wrap for those cables. You'll be surprised how much difference they make :)

Second, loose those X-Box controllers. This will leave it looking more minimalistic and elegant :)

Also, have you thought about moving the Tosh player in the middle of those 2 white boxes? This will give it symmetry.

They only suggestions but great work with the setup mate.

My next purchase, your wraps and excellent cable managment were the inspiration, especially as yours looks soo good without having to take apart walls / truncate :D

Ye, just threw them under there for the time being, the room still has a lot of stuff and crap around the sides which needs to be tidied up :p

Can't risk it tbh, the amp weighs 20kg and puts some serious strain on the shelves, especially if it was at the edge. Although you may think it is worse in the middle as it is, there are a number of books rammed under the unit to prevent any significant bending and damage.

On the symmetry, have left it like this as the new sky HD box will replace the sky+ and re introduce the symmetry again. I have spent more on parts than I have on looks atm, as am waiting for my first house purchase for my first proper integrated cinema build. The upgrade from stereo to 4.1 cost me £60 for the yamaha, £30 for the van damme rear cables, and £200 for the new gemini, and boy was it worth it. This little sub really is a stunning bit of kit and fills up the 7m x 3.5m room with ease, something i wasn't expecting.

Cheers for your comments :D

Ye, cable management is a must! I've seen various expensive set-ups over at AVF and although they have spent a lot of time with the hardware, little effort has been put into hiding the cables which makes a beautiful looking set-up look average.

Truncating is brilliant in my opinion and a very simple solution. You cant really see it at first until you look properly as it blends in nicely with the surroundings. With an AV rack full of goodies, lights and a big TV, most people get distracted and dont even notice they are there.

I prefer your front speakers without grills. I think speakers look far better exposed.

Your new Sky HD box should make it look even better :)

PS. That TV looks stunning!
How does the Gemini II sound?

Nice setup Ad! Unless I've missed it, what stand and TV is that? I absolutely love the design of Pioneer panels!

Pioneer Kuro 5090. If you have a spare £1700 then grab one whilst you can, as it's the latest, greatest, and last series of pioneer tvs, as they are pulling out of the display market from next year, and stocks will dry up later this year !!!

The stand is an ikea LACK, but 1.5 of them. The LACK only has 1 shelf, so you buy a 2nd one, and use the bottom shelves of the unit as the first 2 shelves up from the floor, then a spare pari of uprights and a topshelf as the main shelf where the tv sits. Pretty good, but not really designed for as much weight as is on it atm, but it can handle it :)

Exaclty, have seen some truly wonderful ones with cables all over the shop. Just need to get the room tidy and get some white cable wraps like yours and be done :)

I prefer the speakers that way too, but the drivers are pretty fragile, especialy the soft tweeter. Could never forgive myself or anyone else if they damaged them, but the grills prevent this as they have MDF baffles in teh covers.

Cheers, it really does amaze everytime I watch a new film on it, even after nearly a year.

The Gemini is stunning, the 10inch driver really does go bonkers when the sondtrack demands it, and the sub pressurizes the room quite easily. Unfortunately the SPL meters are out of stock so didn't come in the box, but are apparently arriving at BK today so can get it properly setup. It's a little boomy atm and not perfectly integrated with the speakers, but then again their levels arn't correct either. SPL will be a godsend, and will post up my impressions on here :D

Here is an idea for you -Ad-

To further hide the cables from site, you could use cellertape or blutack to hide the speaker cables by tucking them under the speakers from the back and then down the the back of the spine of the speaker stands. You'd get away with it as your stands are nice and chunky.

Nice setup you have there Ad. Whats the light behind the TV? Love the TV too. Had to settle for a Toshiba 40XF355DB as I couldn't afford a Kuro :p

Good idea with the Lack's too. I have a chopped up Lack between my wardrobe and TV for the PS3 and to hide the TV wires. Works well for the price they are.

I've got the lack to. Really need to get some picks of our new flat.

After my recent purchases i've now got

32" Hannspree LCD
Nintendo Wii
Xbox 360
Sky HD
Pioneer LX70 AV Amp
Primare I21 Stereo Amp
World Design HD83 Headphone Amp
Arcam CD72 CD player
B&W 602
Cambridge Audio DV50
Logitech 1000

The mrs thinks i have too many amps :D

Cheers, but already tried blu tac and electrical tape, both fall off between a few mins and about 30mins. Those stands don't seem to like stuff being stuck to them. Will try parcel tape, but atm you can only see the speakers wires in the photos, and the way they have been hung means they can't be seen from the seating position.

Will definately tidy up the cables though, only had the whole thing up for a few weeks :D

Nice setup Ad - the Apollo kit finishes it off nicely

Just waiting to receive my 500M, going to be a few weeks yet.... can't waiiiiit :'(

Cheers :D Now I'm the jealous one, the KRP sets really take the 5090 forumla and just improve on it further. Get pics up when its in for us to oogle at ;)

You not thought about a centre -Ad-?

No chance with this kit. To get real integration i would have to spend a lot to get a speaker anywhere near the quality of the ATCs, probably buying a spare scm12 and laying it on its side. Only problem with that would be the need for another amp. I can't afford another few £Gs ;)

Plus wih the speakers setup as they are the stereo image is truly remarkable, and a centre wouldn't add very much. Might try and grab a cheapy bargain off the 'bay' to try out, but I know that it won't integrate in the slightest.

:)

Turntable has now gone and one of the boxes has put on some height and some weight!.
