the new replacement for the Arcam AVR350 ...

about 90% of the 2 channel stereo quality, and about 200% (much better) at movies

and even better - connected to a HTPC via USB you get 8 channel lossless for Blurays :)

What model is that? The VSA AX10? How much did it set you back?

I've been after a SC LX81 for a while now but A- cant find them in stock anywhere and B- really cant justify the price tag :(

New addition to my hi-fi, a stopgap til I can afford an n-Sub. I'm pretty happy with it and its surprisingly musical compared the B&W ASW500 I sold last year.

I chose the stampede as it cost me 275 squid (second hand), its small (like my room) and its a fast, taut sub thats very good for music. I don't want a big AV sub for movies as I had one before and it was bobbins for music. This will be used 99.9% of the time for music.

Thought it was the storm. And stampedes are quite a few years old if I remember correctly, looking at it 4-5 years :eek

I say sell it and get one of these brand new, it will be better:

Hi there - its the AX10Ai ... :) had improved MCAAC on it - slightly more power, and newer processing

also has 8 channel USB input (acts as a soundcard)

cost 460 2nd hand :)

note I previously (2 amps back) had a SC-LX71 - and there is no comparison - the AX10Ai sounds far far better - the LX71 was a real disappointment

Finally got around to wall mounting my LCD. Bracket was a steal at just under £40 delivered, giving about 8cm clearance from the wall (needed lots of room for VGA cable), well made, allows about 20 degree tilt and has a built in spirit level!

The bracket actually allows for it to be moved to either side a few inches and moving the brackets on the back of the tv up and down can give you a few inches up/down too.

Yes I know my channels aren't in the best position but its what I have to work with in my bedroom!:p

Can't get the link to work Ad. I'm probably going to get an nSub when I have the cash, though that probably won't be a while yet. Just picked up my Harmony one remote from the post office, fingers crossed that if that works in XP64!

A naim sub, christ that has a huge markup on it at £1495, and looking at the specs it has the same sized driver as my BK Gemini that cost £199, (which will probably match it tbh).

If you're looking at spending serious money then forget REL, Naim, MJ acoustics etc with their high prices, and buy a sub worthy of the price tag, such as a BK Monolith DF, or if you have the cash (£600-£1300) then look no further than an SVS.

The best sub out there now is the PB13 ultra, which is an absolute tank (£1300), or look at the PC ultra which is similar, but is a cylinder sub. They also have cheaper subs which improve on the BK monolith, but as I have already said that naim sub is horribly priced for what you actually get.

The harmony should be fine, logitech have great support. Check out the harmony thread on avforums.

I normally post on the case modding threads, but thought i'd show you some pics of my first love. I've been into home cinema way longer than PC modding, (as you can see from the age of some of my HiFi kit). Like most my set up has been built up over the years, with bits added here and there. It's only recently having moved into a house with a big enough "extra" downstairs room that i've been able to realize the dream of a big screen and a dedicated set up. I've also managed to combine the PC/homecinema thing by linking a PC (dif spec to my sig) into the amp etc so i can now PC game on the big screen in full 7.1
