I'm not much of a phone guy, simple is best for me.
Pixel 8. I'd remove the google stuff at the bottom and the calendar widget at the top if I could.

Mine is the best. Notice the notification bar how clear it is. The middle widget circle is your battery percentage.

I'm using nova and if I tap the screen and then quickly tap again swiping up, it hides the notification bar. And I do the same but swipe down, it hides the search and app line. Makes for a very clean phone.

This is my home screen within 2 quick seconds

Honestly I really dislike the gestures. It also conflicts with the nova gestures I have set.

I liken it to using touch buttons on tvs and monitors. Why would anyone want them over a physical button, especially in cars. Touch buttons are nice for aesthetics, but for practicality, they just are worse in almost every way

It's a personal preference. No need for a naff justification.
