Postman no delivery.... in any weather

I used to be a Postie, but last June, after 13 years I left for pastures new.

Welcome to privatisation and cost cutting at the expense of a reliable service. (See also trains, energy etc - funny how they all turn out the same way)

It was cut, after cut, after cut until you get an inferior service. These decisions were never the ideas of the workers, just "management" justifying their 50K a year sat in an office.
Also, no matter what a select group of politicians tell you, it's not about making something competitive. It's about making money for the shareholder with the least amount of investment possible and that's what it's doing.
If you have any questions, then I'm happy to answer if I can.

During lockdown one in '20, parcel numbers went through the roof, busier than a typical modern four week run to Xmas. Trolley duties often didn't have carrying capacity for all the parcels, without any letters. You also had posties isolating. Backlogs went mental and management saw they could run depots with insufficient staff, creating backlogs for letters and the fines for not delivering letters were more than covered by parcel profit... And the rest is history.

Been a postman for 17 years, still only 38 so have plenty of my working life left, god knows what I will do if it goes **** up.
Nearly 13 years here and 36 years old. Work almost all my rota weeks, evening collections nearly every week, almost live at this place and I feel the same

Whilst I am sorry to all the posites, it doesn't really bother me too much, as I am paperless for everything I can be. Letter post is 95% things I do not want or need.
(Also, getting post is inconvenient, since despite a sign saying "please close the gate" and having asked him countless number of times, the postie still doesn't close the gate and we have dogs).

RM has been shifting its model to parcels for years now and that is where they are pretty good in comparison to the competition. Prices a little higher, but a much better service (such as local post office pick up and not leaving them in bins like Hermes do). If deliveries of parcels were 2-3 times a week this would still be fine. I don't really subscribe to the whole "I want it today" culture. If I am that desperate for something I would sooner go to a shop to buy it.

I have been posting a few things recently via InPost parcel lockers, fulfilled by RM - This is a really neat setup as convenient for me posting, but fulfilled by a reliable service provider, so long may this continue!

I agree with the pickup, with just one issue, that seems to plague RM and that is changing the collection date (which seems to also apply to delivery) is met with RM knocking on days not requested.
Much like the company, it seems their online customer portal is also broken.

I’m surprised Amazon haven’t branched out into the postal sector yet. They could probably do a far better job logistics wise.

Can’t say I’ve had many problems myself apart from the odd card in the past for a parcel when I’ve definitely been in and waiting!

No money in delivering letters, they already provide Amazon logistics services to third parties

Had another parcel from Royal Fail yesterday that had that little perfect blade cut in the perforated carboard box, that was just enough to display what was inside, and lucky for me, no one wanted 4x Tapo radiator smart valves.

This is one thing I notice more often with important mail and parcels from RM, than any other service I use.

Postman put a item though my door at 12.50 - then delivered my parcel at 13.07 but not to me - I asked him next day and sort of thinks he knows where it is - I said it.s 17 min away from here.

CCTV is good.
