Yeah risky I would say. I doubt anywhere currently has stock of the v2 firmware so all you'll end up doing is having to send it to Acer for an update
 
This is turning into a joke! OC, and in turn Acer have now been sitting on my money for some time now and there is still no product to speak of.

Out of principle I am considering canceling the pre-order and and waiting for Asus's 34" offering.
 
Christ, the folks at Acer are a bit thick aren't they?

***** forecasted 23rd October so assuming that that's an accurate date, I'll keep my pre-order. Otherwise, I'm cancelling, at this point it's utterly ridiculous.
 
My bet is that uk retailers will all get them at very similar times. So if other places really get them in on 23rd Oct I'd expect OcUK to as well. I'm sure Gibbo will update us when he's back next week

IIRC this is not the first time he has been on holiday and something happened that his fellow colleagues did not follow through. When you lead by example you need to maintain your stance and when the main guy for this line goes on holiday and no one could be bothered to let customers know then your main competitor can sneak in the door. They managed to send out an email to their customers.

Come the awards next year little things like this can knock you off the top spot!

I thought the same. Contacted them twice on Friday and no one had any idea what was going on even after other retailers sent out info.
 
Same here. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate a response from OcUK after contact with Acer giving us some actual useful information with an ETA that they can actually deliver.
 
Still no info via webchat. I've lost a lot of faith with OC over this.

I know its not the only thing the guys do but with what, even 50-100 pre-orders, that's 50-100k they have of our money tied up and still nothing. Really poor.
 
Dont know what it is with OCUK and Monitors but they seem to go silent everytime there is an issue with them, whether it be a a fault or a delay or poor service. Its happened a few times. As though "no comment" has been advised as the official line. You could give Gibbo the benefit of the doubt and say he is catching up after holidays but if he can chuck out "Pre-Cyber Monday deals" he could find out what the beep is happening with this.
All it takes is for someone to enter four letters into google then search for X34 and it says "ETA 23rd October". You then press pre-order and thats another sale they have lost.
 
thats because all these new gsync/freesync curved ips panels are the plague, its due to qa controls with the ips glow + back light bleed of the AU Optronics panels

a squandered opportunity and the worst most shameful customer relations thing the monitor industry has done in a very very long time.
 
I know I'm only one customer but I was fully prepared to press buy last Friday and even sold my Asus TN 27" monitor that day in anticipation. Now there's still some doubt on a definite delivery date I've been looking at alternatives and may just wait until there's more news on a VA 1440p 100Hz based panel now.
 
OC have just said they are in the dark as to what is going on so its all very strange. Why are they especially having so much trouble or maybe the other retailers are making stuff up.

Either way what a mess Acer seem to be.
