** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

Well I have set it up[ (sort of desk is now a mess). First impressions is that it looks good, well made etc. Have not noticed a dead pixel, yet only thing I have noticed is if I set the brightness below 40~ I start getting a wine (maybe Cap). Don't think I will have the bnrightness that low as I never game in a dark room but will keep an eye on it. Above that is completely silent.

So I think I have my first ever monitor or TV that works first time, with no problems or damage so that's a plus I guess.

I did try and take some images but my phone is in a state of crapness and the pictures if it didn't crash taken them were terrible. So sorry about that. Might try and take some with a DSLR at the weekend.

Edit: Just set the brightness to 35 and its no longer making the noise so no idea what that's about.
Edit 2: Makes it when there is lots of white on the screen.

Well actually if you read forums, you will notice that it is doing quite well, a lot better than the ACER version of it.

Funny, when the XB has been out for > 6months and you're comparing 6 month statistics to like 2 weeks with a few hundred sold and a basicly less than a few dozen reports on forums.

And "a lot better" When the PG also suffer from: Dust, Dead Pixels and BLB?

The ACER XB has been out for 6 months, then how comes QC has not been fixed, where as the PG279Q has just come out.

I do agree, it is a small sample however when the ACER came out, not many people had good monitors, where as quite a lot of people have a good PG279Q

Yeah, the PG279Q samples have some BLB, some have dust, however it is a lot less than the ACER XB samples, also not many people have dead pixels

Do you also know who manufacturers the panel, AU Optronics, you know who that is, ACER

If only LG, Dell, Samsung or ASUS could have made a panel, would have had much better QC on it. If you look at LG, they put more work into their panels as they introduced a new batch (3440x1440p) which reduced some of the IPS glow and backlight bleed caused by the panel.

You dont seem to be capable of 1+1

Its been 6 months hence why the more recent PG279Q and most likely the XB271HU have slightly less problems.

Acer makes the panels? I'd like a source of that.

And its funny if Acer made the panels, why would they hand out the "good" ones to Asus? Lmao.

To be fair, he's half right, AUO was formed when Acer Display Technology (ADT) merged with Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation (UOC) in 2001.

Very nearly pulled the trigger on the freesync version of this monitor today, but I've got a GTX970 and I'm not sure I could go from 1080p 144hz to any resolution 75hz without adaptive sync.

Out of interest has anyone used nVidia on the freesync one? There's some mentions of frame skipping online.

I was also interested in the Freesync version, but I was intending to switch to a Fury at the same time :D

I've decided to wait :)

(btw, their's an X34 in B-Grade for £799.99. Might be worth a punt before I do!! ;))

resolution issue

Hi was not sure where to post. but i downloaded and installed GTAV on my x34 predator yesterday,
went into my settings and set it to 3440x1440 fullscreen mode,
strange thing is when i exit game and reload it always defaults the monitor resolution, but the other settings all remain as how i have changed them.
has anybody else had this issue with this game i am not getting it with any other games.?
also on my gtx 980ti i have dropped a couple of settings From very high to high. and i am getting a stable 100fps sometimes down to 98
the game looks amazing even with a few details turned down slightly.
really pleased with my monitor.
another thing i found with steam based games cs or tf2, older games that if i ran g sync i could potentially run at 60 or even 100 fps and it had some strange micro stutter but if i turn off g sync these games run better.
seems the g sync does not make these older games run aswell for some reason.
overall the monitor is great and it is running great.

I've just stuck a Ergotron MX arm on my X34. Now I can get some of my desk back :)

I will post photos on the weekend.

I am interested in this arm as it looks like it might suit me, however I have a cable tidy bay underneath the back of the desk and it may prevent the clamp from fitting there. Nice solution though. Its only rated for 13.6kg and up to 30" screens.... is the X34 hanging in there ok on yours?

i have a ergotron mx on my samsung 34", looks realy nice and the cables can run inside the arm, i didnt have room for the clamp so i just drilled a hole through the desk and used the bolt and clamp that came with it

I've had that happen on GTA V with another monitor usually it's keeps windowing when I want full screen. I can play at 4K with high settings on a 980 ti so that's about right. The stuttering could be down to VSync settings, frame buffering etc. I think you just have to play with them. In game and the nV control panel.
