** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

It is a minor fault, not something that I'd return it for, or even be that bothered about tbh. But at this price point I wouldn't exactly be thrilled by it either. And calling people out as being sad for it? I dunno man, seems a bit harsh.

It's more that it's sad it's stopping people from enjoying an otherwise very good screen that's all. Sure, it shouldn't happen, but the extent some people (not really here I might add) is just a shame. People want to hate Acer so bad it seems they will jump on any minor little thing and turn it in to the absolute worst thing that has ever happened to them in their life

That's just how it seems to me. I might add that the sleep resume issue doesn't happen every time, often rectifies itself immediately on Windows logon or if not has a very simple and easy work around. It's not like it's a major issue like the banding was that will impact every users use of the screen all the time that's all

just turn the screen off instead of letting it go in to standby when pc is put to sleep.

I must admit, if I was buying a 1k monitor then I wouldn't really want to do this. I often leave my pc running knowing it'll sleep if I don't get back to it in time.

Like you say, it's only a minor thing but a convenient one for most (for instance, if my LG had said problem then I'd probably send it back!)

For me it only really seemed to do it when pc was put to sleep if I remember correctly. Even then it would often only last a second or so before correcting itself. Often the logging back in to Windows triggered a momentary reset of the screen which fixed it too

I'd have to agree, I'd expect everything to work flawlessly at any price quite frankly, let alone £1000. It's all basic stuff.

Strangely, I'm getting no flickering or backlighting issues from wake. However, my keyboard and mouse don't work for me after a reboot or from wake, and my mouse doesn't work at all under Linux. This said, I have a feeling that this could be a common issue with my X99 Deluxe as opposed to the monitor. Simple solution, plug everything directly into the board.

Really, my only gripe is the buzzing, which as stated before is constant at 100Hz: barely audible normally, but audible on a lighter image, or even in a Linux CLI full screen (i.e. before a desktop environment is installed).

i totally agree that everything should work perfectly given the price (or regardless of the price really). I just think that in the grand scheme of things, if that's the only major issue people seem to be picking up on, it's hardly the end of the World :) the banding issue was a serious flaw which would affect every user and was a problem. this one is a very minor issue imo

Playing with the monitor all weekend and I cannot help but love it a little more everyday. Everyone who has seen it has been blown away, even my missus who doesn't appreciate the gaming / movies side of things on it was overjoyed when I showed her Excel on it (don't worry she does have some good points I swear).

I saw the sleep issue only this morning when it was in sleep for about 7 hours. Its certainly not something I am going to gripe over, I am sure a fix will come. If not then I am happy to live with it. Very little light bleed in the corners and not something you can see unless you look from a tight angle.
This seems to be a lottery that there are a lot of winners in... if only the national lottery was like this. :D

Lol at Metros... suggesting that on OCN that isn't him when he posts the same content on both forums. Piece of advice... next forum you are planning to troll - don't register the same name, its a bit of a giveaway.

To those of you with the X34.

Please boot up Alien Isolation or some other dark game and move around or stand still in a very dark area without lights and record the screen from a normal sitting position, and not zoomed in from 3m back.

I dont know if I should bet on the X34 (arrival around Nov 25 - Early Dec in Sweden) or stick with my PG279Q, PG has a light glow at bottom right which is noticable during dark content (at daytime IRL with bias lights on) and its kinda starting to annoy my left eye when I look at the right corner-area during dark scenes such as in Alien Isolation. Other than that its fine. (less glow for right eye, more for left eye, 2 diff shades = confusion in muh brain)
Not to mention I can see my own face and arms, on the screen in Alien Isolation.

I'll try to remember later.

For me the IPS glow isn't particularly intrusive on this screen but compared to my VA panel it comes across more as lighter blacks. The separate trait I can see on mine and others is the more obvious BLB spots top left or bottom left.

They all seem to exhibit that to some extent though only minor where the right side is negligible. IPS glow changes with viewing angle but those two brighter spots are really only affected by the back light level (or applying gentle pressure in the corners).

On it's own it's pretty good but I've a VA panel above mine and apart from the deeper blacks on the VA panel the X34 is pretty much better in every other respect.

Do you think there is only one Metro user name in the world?

Also this is a small user name and is hard to get on many websites and games.

You might want to start thinking about what you are saying before commenting. So you might want to stop due to a lack of evidence.

got my predator x34 today from DPD
have not had time to set it up yet.
if anyone has a guide or tips on installation/color settings etc
could they please post some tips here
thanks.

You would think but no....
are you suggesting that you are copying his content on OCN and pasting it on here, and he is copying your content and posting it on there. How very strange that is... your right it must be someone else.... 2 people badmouthing Acer at every opportunity whilst trying to communicate the fact that you will only buy the same ASUS PG348Q. Someone must have invented cross-dimensional travel! Really can't see why you are defending it, there are plenty of ASUS related threads you can post in where your opinion's will be more relevant.

Anyway back to ACER...
Loco - I used TFT Centrals guide for calibration, find the x34 settings - thought it was spot on. Just google-Fu that! Also in the review of the panel they tell you what settings to change.

so far so good.!!

ok so un-boxed my screen set it up had a small mess about in the menu out the box the colors look good.
see no back light bleed or any other issues right now,
set to 100hz in control panel no weird noises.
all seems good
ive turned off the deep-sleep mode.
looks amazing the picture quality coming from a 7rd old Acer 120hz panel
it looks fantastic.
my desk is 65cm deep and it sits on and its just big enough to fit this screen on.
only question i have is what is the right aspects to set when playing steam games?
i want to play tf2 and cs etc but i have heard steam games chop the scoreboard off and stuff?
anyone got any tips on setting the screen resolutions for steam and games running via it please?
overall really happy so far and i dont even see the lighting in the corners like some of the screen shots i have witnessed on other posts.

How do I know if g sync is working with my monitor .
In team fortress 2 my fps max is 300 and v sync is off
The game runs smooth and I get around 280 fps...
Seems smooth..but is there a true way to know it is working or is there an actual setting in steam to turn on gsync ?

It only works below 144fps. Or in this case, 100fps.

OK, I got it and started to do setup. Looks great so far, but I've been trying to get the speakers to work via Displayport or via regular audio and nothing is happening. OSD says sound is at 70%, Windows shows that audio should be playing in the Volume Mixer.

Any ideas?

You need to install the HD Audio Driver (one of the options when you run the Nvidia driver installer).

So it turns out that my USB issues are the fault of Windows, not the monitor. Linux, no issues at all with USB on startup.
