** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

You need to install the HD Audio Driver (one of the options when you run the Nvidia driver installer).

I believe they are and fully selected and windows thinks they are working.

I've now also tried playing music from my phone via a cable connected to the audio input and hear nothing.

In the Settings menu DTS is 'Off' and Greyed out as well.

I'd truly love to own this monitor, but I just can't see it being a wise purchase for me :( would have to likely switch out my 970 for a 980ti, and I don't game nearly enough to warrant 1400ish on two products ><

It's more that it's sad it's stopping people from enjoying an otherwise very good screen that's all. Sure, it shouldn't happen, but the extent some people (not really here I might add) is just a shame. People want to hate Acer so bad it seems they will jump on any minor little thing and turn it in to the absolute worst thing that has ever happened to them in their life

That's just how it seems to me. I might add that the sleep resume issue doesn't happen every time, often rectifies itself immediately on Windows logon or if not has a very simple and easy work around. It's not like it's a major issue like the banding was that will impact every users use of the screen all the time that's all

Fit for purpose ...a 1k monitor like a 200 quid monitor should just work.

This is not up for debate...it's fact...I don't won't to think about my monitors...they should go into standby and resume without me even thinking about it...

This is top tier hardware...not mediocrity.

You would think but no....
are you suggesting that you are copying his content on OCN and pasting it on here, and he is copying your content and posting it on there. How very strange that is... your right it must be someone else.... 2 people badmouthing Acer at every opportunity whilst trying to communicate the fact that you will only buy the same ASUS PG348Q. Someone must have invented cross-dimensional travel! Really can't see why you are defending it, there are plenty of ASUS related threads you can post in where your opinion's will be more relevant.

Anyway back to ACER...
Loco - I used TFT Centrals guide for calibration, find the x34 settings - thought it was spot on. Just google-Fu that! Also in the review of the panel they tell you what settings to change.

Not going argue any more, not said anything about "How ASUS are so good" here

Get some more evidence then come back, not your "you must be" with no evidence

Now I've sorted my audio issues this monitor really is great. I've got some minor backlight bleed (but less than the Dell 2713HM I'm relegating to secondary monitor), no dead pixels, no coil whine, 100Hz no issues.

Very happy with this.

So if its just the monitor sleeping(not the entire pc) does it still exhibit the same issue? I dont bother with my PC sleeping due to quick boot times these days.

Yes I don't put my PC to sleep but have seen this issue after leaving the screen in sleep overnight.

A quick screen reboot remedied the problem.

YAY

ACER have totally kicked butt with this monitor... you should get one saving yourself £200 in the process off of the Asus' Star Destroyer hybrid. You may explode of course.

No thanks, I would rather pay the extra £200 (or less, we do not know price) as I like the looks of it, longer warranty and less problems (I expect) as ASUS are taking their time.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I have not got my new computer yet as well, so even if I did get this monitor I could not use it. Currently waiting for the Samsung 950 Pro 512GB

If the ASUS PG348Q did not come out in January (or before as ASUS are announcing the data in November) and I had to wait until Q3 2016, I would get the ACER Predator X34

However the wait is not long

If PG279Q is any indication, Asus isnt going to do better than Acer..

Any-one gone from 4k to one of these, if so what's the picture quality like and can you notice the lack of pixels compared with 4k.
Currently have Acer G-Sync 4k monitor and love it, don't want to move to anything that's not as sharp, 4k is simply stunning.

i have seen on the predator user forums.
that people dropping there brightness below 80 causes half the screen to not light up.
has anyone tried this or can confirm it please?
or has this issue i have not changed any brightness settings on my panel yet.
and it may be running at 80% brightness.

I've gone from Samsung U28D590 and I can definitely notice the pixel drop. Genuinely it feels like half the pixels, but it's not something I can't get used to - it's still a thousand times sharper than 1080 plus you have the sexy extra width :D If the refresh rate were a little higher this'd be a fantabulous little monitor, 75hz beats 60 but barely D:

I dunno about the X34, but the XR34 goes below 80% brightness with no issues. I run at about 45 brightness, seems to be the sweet spot for me.
