It's all about the turbo torque. Similarly, the 535d feels faster in every day use than the contentiously high power to weight ratio suggests, assisted by the fact it produces around 200 HP at just 2000 RPM.My last car actually had a better ratio but the new car feels a lot faster everywhere

~150bhp/tonne for the S Class, ~140 for the MX-5.
S-Class feels vastly quicker than that would suggest though, especially compared to the MX-5.
Clio 182 modified 182.73bhp/tonne (182/1.01)
With the new seats and remap it should be 193.78/tonne (185/0.97)
