Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

I wanted to get one myself but I think the DeWalt cordless one would be better suited to my needs.

It's a great price though, looks like the same saw is £99 at Screwfix and has dropped to £50 at the most.

I have one of those Titans, it's pretty good, but very noisy and gets hot quickly! Mine began to overheat and splutter when I was clearing my garden (strimmer), I was running it full throttle for a considerable length of time so avoid doing that.

So I'm having a moment of indecision. I've got a cracking Dewalt DC988K XRP cordless I've had for over 10yrs. Has tackled everything I could have ever asked of it, including doing most of the drill/driver work in my extension. The battery packs have had it though. Would you shell out £100+ for 2 x genuine battery packs, buy 2 'grey' packs or just shelve the drill and get something like a Dewalt DCD795 (saw it recommended a few posts back) with 2 x 2ah batteries for £167??

My main issue with this drill has been the weight, using it for 2-3 days in the trot gives me proper elbow ache so thinking a lighter drill might be better?

I'm looking for a combi drill at around the £100 mark. I've been doing a bit of reading and have seen the DeWalt DCD776C2 at Screwfix and the Makita HP457DWEX2 at B&Q.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm getting the impression that for DIY use and at this price point that I can't go too far wrong with any comparable drill.

I waited ages for that DeWalt drill pack to come down to 100 quid - in end got Stanley Fatmax with two 2.0 amp 18v batteries from Homebase for £79 on a offer they did - a week later the Dewalt dropped to £100

I have used this drill a few times and very impressed with it.

Just waiting for the Bare bones Circular saw to come down then will get that as it's compatible with the 18v batteries.

Used my Dad's Bosch impact & drill driver combo (2x 4.0 ah) a few weeks ago. So powerful, light and the battery never dies.

All of a sudden my old NiMH Makita is showing it's age! I know what I'm getting for Christmas.

Any recommendations for a bench grinder please chaps? All it's needed for is sharpening a lawnmower blade and a few garden tools. Max budget 30 English pounds.

At that budget they are all much of a muchness. The Titan one at screwfix is a reasonable brand at £35 there is a cheaper one made by Energer for about £18. You can't go wrong with these to be honest.
