Every single time I hear someone going on about Stages now I am ready to cringe. They sound like such a hassle and just don't seem the way to go at all :(

I am usually around 48/52 on normal riding although in FurteV I was more like 45/55 for some reason.... On hard efforts and racing, I am bang on 50/50 every time. I don't think there is any point in over analysing and worrying about balance this way, I don't see an effective and safe/proper way of addressing it really.

I don't have as much data as many of you but my experience is pretty similar to xdcx - I get a bit of an imbalance when taking it easy but when I'm pushing it tends to be 50/50 pretty much every time.

I used to play football and was right-footed. Probably explains the imbalance.

As for whether it matters for cycling, probably not. I just want inflated power figures for my ego.:D

Actually you should find the opposite, as your standing leg (your left) should be the strongest! Which is what I have (although I played GK)

2x10mins on the turbo last night after eating my birthday dinner of Domino's pizza, wedges, garlic bread AND cookies. Fuelled up! 309w for 1st 10mins then a 8min recovery and 312w for 2nd 10mins.

Weighed in this morning (after Domino's near death last night) at 60.2KG. So happily over 5W/KG for 10mins, reckon right now I could be right around 295-300watts for 20mins @ 60kg so picking up quite nicely and quite happy with that form for February. Lots more to come this year!!

That's awesome, v good numbers.

Time poor at the minute so been doing hill reps here as it seems to give a good workout. Get home super bonked, seems as tough as a short road race.

Cracked third time up today after 8 mins though. 323, 328 and 314w for 11 minutes each time. On the Tuesday bunch I did 360w for ten mins but whole different story just doing it once.

Tried to push 350w from 6.5 mins last time up but cracked and had to back right off to 290-300w.

I am 79-80kg now though as I've been into the cake and beer and not training enough.

So depressing when my best is 9:20 and 390w at 76kg.

So based upon this last week

Sa Calobra Climb 36:41 (42:45) https://www.strava.com/segments/653262
Cap de Formentor 10:06 (11:03) https://www.strava.com/segments/6087770
Sa Calobra Descent 13:09 (17:02) https://www.strava.com/segments/842307 (312/16712 including a slow down for an accident)
Puig Major 48:56 (58:37) https://www.strava.com/segments/10654274

Give or take 66kg or so with the following power outputs. Obviously none of which especially fresh.

312w for 10 minutes
294w for 19 minutes
280w for 36 minutes
270w for 49 minutes

First day in Spain and happy with a new 18 min pb at 352w

My levels of hate have grown for you on Strava this past week.... 350w for 20mins then? You are right around your best from last year already, good things coming this year Thomas! :D

I am on a proper downer week as it is the big spewey 20min test on the turbo this evening. Absolutely dreading it but cannot wait to see what I can do either. 310watts I reckon, we shall see tonight

306w so right on that 5w/kg mark. 8w lower than last years best which was set on a climb, so with 306w on turbo I know I could push more on a climb so reckon the power is where it was at best last year, means nothing though without the same level of outside riding really and I am 2kg heavier just now.

Thought for a year my max HR was 194/195, well tonight it sat at 200bpm for 3mins and maxed at 202bpm. So I guess a proper rested week and flat out effort shows the true capabilities of my rested body. Basing my new max HR as 200bpm for now which is very promising as my resting is around low 40's and lactate turnpoint I estimate in high 170's. Not bad for 28 years old!

Need to do some proper testing across 20 minute intervals and below but my PBs so far are:

Username - One More Solo
Age - 27
Height - 5ft 11in
Weight - 69KG
FTP (60min) - 251w FTP W/KG - 3.64
CP (20min) - 291w CP W/KG - 4.22
5min - 319w
1min - 546w
5sec - 871w
1sec - 932w
Gear - Power2Max and Garmin 800
Info -
60min from 25 mile TT so in TT position, road bike higher than that I would imagine
20 min from random climb on road bike
5 min from 9 minute hill climb effort so actual 5 min should be higher (I hope!)
1 min from 2 minute hill climb effort so actual 1 min should be higher

New 5 min PB today of 343w. More like it. :D

Updated your profile, top work pal :D

Cheers all - and thanks for updating. :) Felt a bit ropey for a couple of weeks after the Tour of Sufferlandria "training block", put 10 points on my CTL in a week but the cumulative fatigue knocked me back for a bit. Starting to feel the benefits now but has been a longer adaption period than I expected.

I'm not too shocked by OMS' increase in 5 minute power given all the turbo training doing essentially 5 minute power intervals :p

Haha, going to be hard to keep up the turboing when the sun is out but it's a great way of doing really focused sessions. I'll try and keep to one or two a week but looking forward to a lot more road time (plus actually doing TTs should naturally help my top end power). It has taken a few weeks of road riding though for the turbo work to translate to the road for me. Everyone is different on that front but I definitely need time to get my legs back in road mode.

I'm pretty much where I was at my best last season and still got a couple of months (and a week in Majorca) before my target events come around, so really happy with that.
