Did an 'unofficial' ftp test today. I would prefer to do it on the turbo as it's more consistent and better for tracking progress more accurately even if it's a little lower than what I could do on the road. Far too hot today to be inside on the turbo so I did a 20min block on the road.

Surely your 5s power is higher than that?! Nice FTP though, hot day for it too

Probably. I paced myself for a 20 min effort so it wont be a good indication of my real 5s max.

Atually, just checked it, the 5sec max for that ride wasnt during the 20min test, it was on a short climb with about 40mins recovery after the test. I think I could do better than that if I tried but it'll do as a guide for now.

Only had a quick play tonight but 6s power was 1171w. 80kg though.

We're having a competition on Monday to see how far a team of 4 can ride given 15 mins each. I'll see what my average is for those 15 mins then probably do a ftp test on Thursday.

Embarrassing FTP test - didn't want to post it but the only way is up! I know that last time I was training on the bike I started around 150 and got to 250 (using an estimated power) so +100w from here would do nicely!

Added you to the list man. One of the main reasons for this thread was so people could post their stats and as they progress and improve they could update them and everyone can see that progression. So don't feel embarassed what so ever, use this as your base andnext time you do a test and see an improvement you'll feel great about it and getting to update your profile

Indeed so - I'm all about tracking progress. Did AVDP tonight and blew up on the third of five 4 min intervals. I haven't eaten dinner either occasion which may not have helped ;)

Quoting your own post ftl. Managed 11092 meters in 15 mins, average power of 330w.

I went for a 3-lap challenge this morning at RP. Aimed to beat my PB set a year ago but ended up being 2s short of it which I definitely blame on cars blocking me on the final lap on the fastest descent!

I averaged 214W for the segment which took 54m48s. Funnily enough, 214W is my estimated FTP so the 95% of 20min effort thing was fairly accurate!:D

Is there a good road in south London for 20 minute tests?

I did my first session on a set of rollers and it says 237w avg over 20 minutes but taking this with a pinch of salt. I've done hardly any riding this year.

DanF, you should go to Richmond Park at 6am for power testing, it's great for that.

Finally beat my 3-lap challenge PB set in July 2014! Super chuffed, although also slightly depressing it's taken this long to get to where I was a year ago?!

Nothing spectacular about the average power, it was less than my FTP, but I beat my time by 21s. Didn't have a skinsuit, shoe covers and sperm helmet on either but I've been tweaking my position on the TT bike for more aero-ness.

Average of 207W for 54:25

Does anyone else struggle with the mental side of putting power down on the flats? On a climb, I can happily push hard on the pedals and work it but on the flat I loaf along. I think it's mental as I was quite happy with 18mph (on the flat) but having a PM makes me realise I'm only doing 100w to get to 18mph. I probably just need to find some longer segments on the flat and push it to train myself to do so but does anyone find the same?
