PowerColor X1800 XT - £235 until Feb 6 only! Don't miss out!!

There is an specific implementation of SM3.0 that it does not do, and nvidia does, but the X1 series can also run HDR and AA which the nvidia 7800 series can't (HL2 lost coast being the exception I believe, as it was implemented in the code).

I thought HDR was the Nvidia cards strong point?

Or do you mean the 7800's can't usually run HDR *and* AA at same time?

As far as i know..It's was only farcry that had this problem,,But there's a patch out now that lets the 7800 cards run HDR with AA.
But i have not tested this patch myself..So i can't confirm if it works or not..

Gibbo, any chance of the crossfire edition being put on special offer? Im tempted as heck to crossfire, but the price is just a bit out of range at the moment.

A drop down to the £300 inc vat range would see you shift these cards im sure :)

Yeah same, id buy one of the xfire master cards if they were down to around 280/290inc vat. For 350 tho theres no chance id buy one, rather wait for new technology next year and stick with my x1800xt slave :P

Thats my thinking, i could be tempted at a good price.

Doubt they will come that low ... going to be sought after and not easy to source as it is .... they are worth it though, if you already have a slave, for £350 inc you get a master and better than stock X1900XTX performance :)

Having said that ... Gibbo might put them down some as I bought one last week, and that would be par for the course :p

Addressing a comment made earlier in this thread about X1900XT's being to cheap, so that it make them look like a worse performer.

You'd have to be a bit silly just to assume that because a card is cheaper and it that companies top of the range card that it was significantly worse than the competitions. Have you ever wondered why Gfx cards have gone up to such stupid prices, because people buy them. To me the 512mb GTX looks like a complete rip off, I suppose you can look at it from the point of veiw of you don't have to pay Ferrari prices to get Ferrari performance.

Maybe Nvidia should consider dropping their prices, oh wait they can't because they cannot make enough cards, so we have a similar performing, much lower priced card. So I reckon it'll win a lot of support for ATI, keeping the prices real and giving good performace, just making Nvidia look like the con artists they really are!

In short, if you are in the market for a good card on a sensible bugdet and you don't wanna make babies with Nvidia get a cheap X1800XT and spend the other £200 on me :D

Problem isn't with peeople who will do a bit of research before buying it's with people who just want something Uber, and one hell of a lot of people base that on price, so they will see the nvidia card for 500 odd quid and think OMG that must be awesome, while seeing that the Ati card is cheaper thus inferior.

On the up side OcUK are about to sell themselfs one of the rather fine X1900 cards :D as well as a shedload of other bits and bobs to build myself a new rig :D As my Rad 9700 pro finally bit the dust last week and i'm running with a Rad 9550 at the moment.

Will these cards still be on sale price untill 12pm 2nite (6th)? If so ill take one :)

and any chance of a deal on the master crossfires gibbo? how many of these do you have in stock?

No deals on those at the moment, not many places in the UK stock them and I believe were already the cheapest. :)

So who doesnt pay VAT then...???

Never understand why retailers advertise the non vat price... everyone has to pay it, even if you can claim it back for some reason, which most of us cant!!

For the love of god check your email!

Keeping it on topic (i think, skim reading doesnt payoff :D )

Someone buying a card as its the most expensive will obviously happen with the less expeirienced of the bunch. Such as people not in the "know" and beginners at the pc game.

Just so one newb can say to another newb, woot my card cost me nearly £500 man i rock.

And the other guy can only say, Good for you my x1800xt only cost £250 and it performs the same to yours, unlucky sucka!!!!

Dam newbs :)
