Hi there

Yes the thread title is not a mistake, were nearly £200 cheaper than our competitors on this truly fantastic piece of kit. Whats the catch? Well no catch as such, this batch just come with 1yr warranty instead of the usual 3yr, but the saving is substancial.

We don't expect stocks to last long and DELL are not giving us any ETA for more at this price, I am offering them at this price until next Friday at which point the price shall increase by approximately £50 which shall still be over £100 cheaper than competitors. :)

Are they refurbs then?

They are a cancelled order, un-opened, un-used, basically brand new, so not sold by DELL as they have already been sold to a customer, but the order cancelled, no doubt due to ordering too many.

As such they are new, but sold with no official manufacturer warranty, as such we provide the 1yr warranty. :)

this price is berzerk!
storming deal there colleague!
tempted to sell my u3011 and get two of these as the quality of the 2011 dells are second to none. :o

If OC are handling the warranty do we still get the 0 dead pixel promise I believe Dell's Premium Panel Guarantee gives you?

Also is the USB hub powered? I'm sure the old 20" Dells I had were not which makes the hub a trifle limiting.

It's tempting but I can get it for just over £600 with a 3 year Dell warranty, which is probably worth the £100 premium.

We sell it for £657 with 3yr warranty.

We also sell it for £499 with a 1yr warranty.

For some people that is a substancial saving. :)

Wow, that is quite a saving!

Really liking this monitor as an upgrade from a 2209wa, but then I can't justify the price for a mandatory graphics card upgrade as well. :(

I wouldn't use it for FPS sadly, its input lag is over 30ms, would be amazing for RTS though.

rubbish IMO. I play FPS all the time including online gaming.

The other day I finished first in a hardcore level on BC2. I am not the most amazing player but I didn't notice any sluggishness and haven't had since I bought it.

IMO I would get it for anything.

In your opinion, in mine that sort of input lag is noticeable in not only aiming well placed shots but close combat reflex shots as well as being a distinct disadvantage as you're seeing the game 30ms after people using a CRT.

what both of them? :p

i have two panels at home, a 1080p 120hz jobbie and a dell. I prefer gaming on the dell because I'm used to it.
this is a professional monitor aimed at the prosumer. it can be used for gaming easily.
at least half of my clan play with high res dell panels and we do just fine. if you notice any input lag then a more gaming focussed monitor would be better suited for you. obviously at the sacrifice of pixel real estate and image quality in most cases.
there are plenty of other monitors on the market that would fit your needs better.
there really inst any arguing when it comes to the pricing on this specific line though.

It's a Dell and IPS, it'll fail in 12 months and your well out of pocket! Pay the extra for warranty if going Dell

exactly, the practically non existent failure rates on dell ultrasharp panels proves this...

No doubting it can be used for gaming, but if you're a competitive FPSer though I'd stay well clear.

Good price mind you.

as mentioned above, a lot wont notice it. depends if you want a screen over 24" in size.
there are another 81 monitors to choose from on the site too ;)

Interesting, a quick Google seems to say that human reaction times are many times slower then 30ms. Short of being superhuman or not human at all I don't see where this 30ms will make any difference. In my experience of skill based sports/hobbies the equipment was far outweighed by the skill of the person. Of course the less skilled always looked for their weaknesses in their equipment rather than their technique...
