Pre-season Football 2011/2012 Season

Sorry I feel really bad now. I should just edit it. :(

I quoted this one as its smaller, the problem with the other post is most of your points are incorrect, structured debt is NOT the same as normal debt. Arsenal are making (or had been) making higher profit AFTER the payments for debt than before we moved..... financially crippled is utter rubbish, I mean, proveably completely incorrect.

As for not being able to afford to replace players, again incorrect, too many people focus on the transfer fee and not the wages, which with rare exception outweight the transfer fee. LIke I've said many times, Denilson, Diaby, Song all ditched years ago on free transfers without renewing contracts, alone, with no transfer fee's would have SAVED 10's of millions at this stage. Every year you keep Denilson when he's not good enough, thats 2-2.5mil a year on wages. So while Arsenal can't afford to sell Denilson, and buy Diarra back for 25mil, we can completely afford to sell Denilson on a free transfer, and save 6mil in the past 3 years, thats 6 mil we otherwise wouldn't have.

I don't question not buying players, I question paying insane wages for guys WE DON'T EVEN PLAY. Eboue started what 5 games all season, for 50-60k a week, sell him, we've had offers Wenger has refused in the past 3 years, and bring in a kid, for 15k a week, to play 4 games a year, opps, thats 2mil a year saved.

Bendtner, around 40k, no starts, bring in a 4mil a year Chamakh, who now can't get a game.

These are the things I focus on, not the "but we can't afford 20mil a player" arguments which completely ignore every single piece of bad business.

Even our preseason tour is a joke, half way around the world, for two damn games, while our youth team plays...... Hastings, generating no money. Jet should be pushing the first team yet isn't even with the squad. We go to Malaysia with a chance to generate more fans, and play a single game, take the youth team, play 2 more games, spread the stars between the games, make a crapload more money now and long term.

Its got nothing to do with success, nor building, what tosh, Chelsea buy players at 25 for full market value, Wenger buys them at 19, for less money, we aren't building, he buys and they go in the first team. No way is better than the other, our youth squad is bigger and more expensive than anyone elses and has produced as many starters for Arsenal as Chelseas youth team has given them, next to none.

We've played worse football every year for 6 years, the worst players at the club stay, and all the best ones leave, are fed up and several have refused coaching jobs to come back to Arsenal........ which is pretty telling in and of itself.

Every club has less good players, but Utd's not so good players, Gibson, Fletcher, O'shea, still have medals and titles and can perform at a higher level than our worse players.

so...anyone stayed up to watch the Seattle match?

Youngsters not expected to start until the next game and Berbatov and Rooney are out.

Lineup:

Lindegaard
Rafael
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Pretty attacking midfield 4!

Oooh new away kit too.

would have enjoyed seeing Cleverly & Welbeck start.

Patience :)

This Seattle team is looking quite good, couple of very quick players. Montero just seems to shoot whenever he gets the ball though.

Lindegaard just made a couple of great saves!

Young and Evra are looking very good down the left, Evra's cross for the goal was one of the best I've seen him do.

HT

Lindegaard's grown in confidence on this tour, hope he doesn't get too ****y though with his starting place, he's coming far too far off his line for my liking. Couple of good saves one after the other though.

Owen should have scored that one on one, Anderson & Macheda have looked good :)
