Pre-season Football 2011/2012 Season

With the same squad as last season, I'm not sure what Harry would otherwise be expecting. This maybe a sign of our season to come unless he get's in 2 decent CBs and 2 forwards and maybe even 2 midfielders since we've lost Sando for 3 months, Placacios ?? (wasn't he leaving for Roma??), and Modric... Ankle injury my outlet!

New player should be partaking in these pre-season friendlies.. I'm convinced that sky pay some of these clubs to hold back on transfers for deadline day sensations.. Am I being sceptic ? :p
 
Thought PingPong looked ok today, maybe could develop into an alternative to Song now he's fit?
Defensively very shaky when Squillaci (never has a player been less aptly named) and Djourou were on the pitched, also Traore is a liability, just as well Arshavin continued his great tracking back that he's shown throughout 2011 (no idea why people like to suggest he doesn't help out defensively, he certainly does as much work out of possession as Nasri).

Song came on, foul, foul, foul, one good pass, foul, foul, foul, foul.... but ref blew the final whistle instead. Frimpong is pretty much Song mk2, neither good enough, he had one good game last preseason then the next few were all fouling and giving the ball away.

Traore, if he ends up first team, is a joke, we lose Clichy and go back to Traore, likely first team because frankly Gibbs has about as much chance being fit for even half the season as I have of starting for Arsenal this year. Djourou was woeful, our defence was woeful.

They kept going on about how good Sagna was as he made consistant mistakes, playing people onside, fouling, etc, etc. In both games now Sagna came on and we looked way worse at right back and in this game went off and we looked vastly improved, and this is with a barely played right back who has only just joined. Defensively Sagna has been a joke for just over 2 years, and he's below average offensively, sure fast and runs a lot, little to no end product.

Theo, no idea, Nasri, useless in central mid, we put a striker who can play on his own upfront in the second half, put on a proper defender at right back, and put in a proper couple midfielders and looked dramatically better in the second half even if we didn't get the goal.

As you said, Arshavin tracked back LOADS last season, Nasri rarely tracks back and consistantly gives away petty fouls when he does. Arshavin had an excellent season but the fans turned on him, Wenger started dropping him and our results got worse..........
 
I kind of agree with many of the points DM makes. I don't really understand Song's existence as a footballer.

Except he was on SSN (as he always is, cant keep out the bloody spot light) saying that Modric's excluded from the squad due to an ankle injury.
 
1st half just finished in our first game so far v Club America.

Goals from McGivern and SWP.

Clichy, Savic and Dzeko particularly standing out so far.

This weeks live games. Glad the Chicago Fire game is on at a decent time. Can actually watch it. I think Da Gea will be playing.

Levy needs to get Rossi in now FFS, get rid of keane, bentley, crouch or defoe, Jenas, let them **** off elsewhere, free up the wages and get in a top class striker.

Sandro being injured is the worst thing that could have happened. Uncertainty around keeping palacios, i'd rather play him over jenas though.
