Pre-season Football 2011/2012 Season

He played quite well although he's going to have to play incredibly well this season for me to change my opinion of him.

He offers us something different to what we have though. With Lucas predominantly being the most defensive of our CM's and the days of Gerrard bursting in the box becoming few and far between, Adam will provide us with that drive from midfield that we wouldn't otherwise have.

For £7-8m, as an addition to the squad I don't think we can complain too much.

With us likely to be playing a mixture of 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2, a squad (just midfield and attack) below has a very good balance and offers us a bit of everything:

Lucas, Gerrard, Adam, Aquilani, Spearing, Henderson, Maxi, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll and Ngog.

If we could add another genuine wide player to that, the balance would be perfect.

lol at Arsenal, and even worse at the commentary, Nasri tries a awful pass over the top and it makes him a special player, a nice volley, except, it misses there was a 0.01% chance of scoring, we had loads of players around and it was easier and made more sense to control, but Nasri is great.

Arshavin with a great pass, which ends up in a goal, its good but he's had a poor game.

We sucked, 1-0 down to nobody's for most of the half, awful defensively, again they were banging on about how good Sagna was while he made mistake after mistake, Djourou was back to his best, while making mistake after mistake.

What did we learn from the first half, Nasri can't run a game even against woeful opposition, RVP isn't a lone striker, vela isn't a winger, etc, etc. Same thing as usual, no change, same mistakes.

Overweight and ginger? :p

I thought Henderson was a box to box player and seen as the natural successor to Gerrard?

Lucas, Gerrard, Adam, Aquilani, Spearing, Henderson, Maxi, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll and Ngog
First half today certainly highlighted why we need width, Carroll doesn't offer much with out it. Hopefully the fullbacks and Downing will give him that.

lol, at least Kuyt's going to get an easier time this season :p

Yea, I do see Henderson as the successor to Gerrard but I think in the short-term we're going to see him playing more on the right hand side; either tucked inside in a 4-4-2 or in a 3 man midfield.

Agree to an extent on Carroll although I wouldn't judge him too much on what we've seen just yet. He wasn't fit last season and it's only pre-season now. As well as being a threat in his own right, I can see him and Suarez forging a great partnership with Suarez feeding off him much in the way that Gerrard used to off of Crouch.

edit: On Henderson, Adam and Carroll; Henderson's got a very good delivery on him and even from the two 45 minutes they've played together, Adam's picked Carroll out with a couple of very nice crosses from deep (which he had a lot of success at Newcastle with Barton).

He's said to have a very questionable attitude which I can't see fitting in well with what we're trying to build. I suspect it's the same reason we didn't look at N'Zogbia either.

Injury time goal for Kaizer Chiefs crashes Spurs.

FT : Kaizer Chiefs 1 : 0 Spurs

Starting 11 : Cudicini; Hutton, Bassong, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto; Bentley, Jenas, Huddlestone, Kranjcar; Keane, Defoe. SUBS - Friedel, Corluka, Kaboul, Khumalo, Naughton, Bale, Lennon, van der Vaart, Crouch, Pavlyuchenko.

I still can't get my head around that Bentley and Keane are still in squad :/

Notable absentee anyone?

We won't break top 6 with the squad the way it is, we haven't bought anyone massive in yet. Keane and Bentley are dead weights and Keane is on stupid money, no wonder Modric is unhappy.

He's 'INJURED' so any body interested might think he is a crook buy.

To be honest I wish they'd just sell the little money grabbing scrote now at least cash in on it and get a good midfielder and a decent striker for him. He can't shoot anyway !!
