*** Pre-season Friendlies Thread ***

Dunno what all the fuss is about this Adam tackle, everyone knows Bale was already injured hence not in Olympic squad, it was a pre-existing condition.

AFAIK he pulled out of the olympic squad due to a back injury, what that has to do with a studs to the ankle/achilles from Adam I don't know.

Nice easy win to round out the tour of Asia.

Tomorrow the Euro lads play against Oldham before the main squad fly out to Wolfsburg and that is our last friendly before Community Shield.

I'm assuming it was a similar team to the one Arsenal played, where we were completely outplayed until the dying minutes against a Malaysian B team against some fresh players when we got a narrow and completely undeserved victory, your guys were 3-0 up 50 mins in and cruising and seemingly gave them a consolation goal. How ridiculously massively far our squad is away from yours. The ridiculous thing being, if we got rid of the right players rather than the wrong ones and still had the same squad quality as 4 years ago we'd have a fantastic squad still. This preseason has been a complete disaster, your guys so easily beat us, and a Malaysian XI, and Kitchee(who?) outplayed almost our first team for next year..... I'll point it out again, Blackburn thrashed Kitchee.... they outplayed us.

I seriously can't believe we took neither new striker, one who played less than Walcott in the Euro's. Chamakh looks like an utter joke now, and Wenger has today said that Podolski and Giroud WON'T be ready for the start of the season, meaning we're strikerless(because Chamakh just doesn't count) going into the start of the season. Even City managed to sort out a game and training for their Euro guys, even if its a joke team you put out of mainly under 19's or something plus a few guys, its better than nothing and that is with most of your first team with the squad now. Arsenal who are DESPARATE for fit first team players and two brand new strikers who we desparately need to intergrate into the team... and nothing, its beyond a joke.

Seriously what is the big deal with the Adam tackle? I saw the clip on youtube and for Bale to call him a coward is out of order. It's hardly a bad tackle, not worth warranting a red card. He's the coward for backing out of the Olympic squad. Look at how Sturridge came through his battle with meningitis to play for GB.

As far as I know Bale had a back injury that neither Spurs NOR team GB could make a guess as to when it would be fine, could be a week, could be 2 months, team GB decided not to take the risk without having the foggiest if he'd be ready. The fact that it turns it he was is neither here nor there, the team GB doctors CORRECTLY didn't take a needless risk. If it was a 23 man team like the Euro's.... maybe they would but the Olympic squad is much smaller and you can't take a currently injured player.

Sturridge was ill, got better, it wasn't a physical injury, they knew he could play so kept him in the team. Have a go at his diving and other ****, but that isn't something to have a go at him about.

Apparently Bale has recovered from his season threatening injury and is in line to play tonight :o

You seem to be under the illusion that a tackle has to actually put a guy out for months to be considered a really bad tackle. A bad tackle is a bad tackle, the actual injury that results is a mixture of luck, the players health/strength and what actually contacted with him.

Or he was referring to Spurs' fears that Bale could be seriously injured, even though he bravely soldiered on for 30 minutes after the tackle.

considering adam put bale out of action for the end of the 10/11 season. we were right to be worried. as it stands, there's a chance he will be playing against the 'ny red bulls' and possibly cahill @ 00:00 our time.

i can't see where our goals are going to come from. i believe kane is our only striker!

You should be worried about him being injured now because of a tackle made over a year ago?

If Spurs were worried about him being injured then he wouldn't have played on for another 30 minutes after the foul.

I should have known that things need to be made perfectly clear to you. Just because Adam injured Bale a year ago, that doesn't make it more likely that the tackle last week would result in an injury. The fact that Bale was able to play on and had no problems sprinting down the wing for another 30 minutes made it pretty clear that he wasn't seriously injured. He's just crying in the press because he wasn't able to con the ref into sending Adam off.

Jesus christ it isn't half frustrating to see anyone half a 'discussion' with cm1179 because it's like the other person is always talking to a brick wall :(.

It's quite simple, if a club is worried so much about a player being injured, they take them straight off. If the player himself was worried about being injured he'd signal to come off too. Neither of which happened for a good period of time.

Bale is just having a whine because he didn't get it going his way.

It was tongue in cheek, I nearly put a smiley on but didn't think it would be required... :)

Point was Bale was playing for Spurs before the start of the Olympic football tournament, implication being by definition if he was injured for GB game 1 he shouldn't have been able to play for Spurs prior to that.
And yeah, maybe he recovered quicker than expected, maybe preseason friendlies are deemed less of a risk than tournament play, but either way, it caused a few eyebrows to be raised.

I often wonder how he has got to his age in life without reading or having a proper discussion

lol you're wonder where i've got to in life going off what i say on an internet forum? i'd say that says more about you than it does me. ftr. i've done just fine.

it's not my fault liverpool fans seem to have a problem linking the adam and bale incident.

Man City are an AMAZING evens with Betfair tonight to beat Oldham. Hart, Clichy, Lescott, Nasri and santa cruz all starting. I have blown my normal limits and staked £200 on them.

Cheers for that, they should give oldham a spanking with their C team.

On another note, I don't know if many of the Liverpool fans here play a lot of sport but its quite easy to get an injury that you can play on which turns out to be a bad one after the game. I have injured myself for weeks and months at a time after an injury in a game that I played through. The adrenaline gets you through the pain and its only the morning after you see the full damage.
