Pochettino is favourite to take over but I just don't see it. We'll end up with Dyche or someone equally as pants.

Don't think it's quite as unrealistic as some are letting on. We've got the money for him, just a question of whether he thinks it's worth his time. Most fans would have us bite his hand off, same with Tuchel. Dyche get's a massive no from me as does Hassenhutl, though the latter I think I could warm to.

Aston Villa is Pochettino level. Spurs and Southampton are no different in terms of size. Aston Villa only have 1 less major honour in their history and have won a European cup. I also think the club with the players he has would be perfect for him.

PSG was never a job for him. He is about building sides. PSG is about managing Ego's. Different set of skills.

I suppose you think Forest could tempt Ancelotti to take over when he leaves Real too?

This is clearly nonsense. Historically they might have similar trophy hauls but that is completely irrelevant to potential managers. When was the last time Spurs were relegated?

He’s already turned them down

I understand that but the basic building blocks are there for a manager. Big club, big City, big stadium and rich owners. City were absolutely nowhere 10 years ago, Newcastle have been in the wilderness for a decade and a half. Aston Villa are as big a club as Spurs regardless of what has happened in recent history. In the 80's & 90's Villa were consistently top 6 material. Spurs were no where near that. It is only the past 5 years that Spurs have even been up toward the top. Leeds are even a bigger club than Spurs and they have been in the Championship for yonks.

If Poch has rejected them then fair enough but he thinks a lot higher of himself than is really true.

You're talking three decades ago...no high profile manager is going to take that on in the hope they suddenly reverse 30 years of rot. Managers base their decisions on now, not ancient history. Comparisons to City and Newcastle are even sillier. Villa aren't owned by a country and aren't going to have near that financial backing.

Why would they be interested in Villa, it’s a massive backwards step

Don't think that's entirely fair. If they've said no then I imagine it's more because some jobs higher up the table are looking likely to be available then it is anyhting to do with our 'status' as a club, though admittedly no new manager of that 'stature' wants to start off fighting a relegation battle, no matter how far off we are from the end of the season.

Just look at the stadiums. Villa have a loyal fan base. Three decades ago is no different to 5 years ago. History is history. Form is in the present and not the past. There is no reason why Aston Villa cannot be higher than Spurs in 5 years time.

I wasn't comparing Villa to City and Newcastle in financial might. I was merely pointing out how quickly the tables can turn in football. Then again Villa are no paupers either and could quite easily get back up there with the right manager and focus in place. Also Conte took the Spurs job and they have only won 1 trophy in 20 years. The same with Carlo at Everton.
