Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

Also "The Belgian rider Femke van den Driessche has been banned for six years for using a hidden motor at the cyclo-cross world championships."

Suspending him can only hurt GB Olympic chances, even worse if he loses his job.

Not saying that it should be overlooked for success but it smacks of sour grapes, I lost my job how can I get back at you.

I think that's unfair. Anyone will recognise that in the workplace we often accept or overlook things that aren't or should be accepted in order to not rock the boat. I am not suggesting it's right, just pointing out that it's human nature.

Now that she has lost her job there's nothing to stop her speaking up. The fact that other female cyclists are corroborating her comments should be evidence that this may be more than a case of sour grapes.

I believe he was suspended over his alleged comments regarding Paralympic athletes, which something may have felt more comfortable coming forwards about because of Varnish going public. I certainly don't think how this it might affect GB medal chances should play into it at all, I'd rather see didn't win than won only because of the assistance of someone like that. But I also don't think it will affect much, it's not like everyone's going to just stop training and a less stressful environment might allow more to reach they're full potential.

Resigning = guilty basically

Best thing to happen is him leaving

Victoria Pendleton in her biography talks about his bullying and reducing her to tears etc etc

Hopefully there will be a full investigation and all the facts will come out. I have to admit that he sounds like a piece of work but it's not fair to decide that he's guilty until the investigation is done.

He wouldn't treat the women any differently to the men, they would all be treated in the same bad way, which is why we have been so successful, you don't win anything being nice in todays sporting world. Imagine Alex Ferguson or Brian Clough coaching, they would treat everyone the same but it would be harsh.

Anyway moving on Tour De Romandie has been good, Zakkarin looking strong again, although bit of illness has taken a few riders out. Quintana looking good, but Sky look quite tired!

Don't forget too! Tour De Yorkshire tomorrow! Live on ITV4 with Highlights at 19:00! Can't wait, was a great 3 day race last year.

Think Fergie realised like most good managers that the stick only works when it's used sparingly. The hairdryer rarely came out so when it did it was effective. Sutton seemingly failed to grasp that.

Stuck a fiver each way on Quintana at 10/1 before Romandie and looking good so far. Hopefully his TTing continues to improve tomorrow.
