Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

Went to hunt down some of the channel4 TdY coverage on their catchup thingy and there's nothing listed?! Couldn't find any Youtube coverage of it either, anyone have any links?

Also struggled to find any for Paris-Roubaix, if anyone has some?

I turned up a complete blank of any good coverage of P-R, or at least any with english commentary as wasn't it broadcast on Eurosport? Don't tend to see much/any of their coverage on YT.

Doh! Not sure why I thought it was Ch4! Thanks for links anyway, will have another ganders this week if the weather forecast is correct...:(

This is a must for Paris Roubaix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxnA4asj44

They did videos for the TdY stages as well.

There's plenty of racing, just need more of it televised as it'll then naturally get more sponsors involved!

Although things tend to be going the opposite around here at the moment - one of the big sponsors of the Abergavenny Road Race has stopped getting involved so they may not even be able to secure closed roads for it as the council have gone and arranged something else in the town the same weekend!

The 'Hitter' Road Race they had here (Hereford) for the first time last year, was really really popular, even had spectators out for the Sportive I rode ~4-6 hours before it. The sportive(s) filled to capacity and they tied it all into a 'Festival of Sport' in the city with various other events (half marathon & 10k etc) and there was even talk of a Triathlon for the next one. Heard a few weeks back that the guy involved (and driving force behind organising it) from the council actually lost his job over the winter 'due to cutbacks' and now nothing will be going ahead. The sponsored road race also won't go ahead as the council 'cannot afford the disruption' of closing roads. Utterly useless!:mad:

There's a few conti race series, sure, but in terms of attracting WT riders there's pretty much only the TdY, the ToB and the London-Surrey Classic. Conti races are great to watch, and atm the motorpoint spring cup highlights are being shown on Eurosport. But they don't really attract people to the sport, bring money to the local economy of present as big of a spectacle as the larger races.

Good to see dumoulin back in pink today. Quite an action packed stage for so early in! Think Thurs is the first proper hills!

Kruijswijk is a serious man to watch. One of my favourite climbers, he is usually so strong as GT's progress and moves up the GC, but even today he was right there I couldn't believe he was that LJ jersey crossing the line when he did!

Very happy to see Dumoulin back in the pink jersey. Double Dutch :cool:

Absolutely, getitng better year on year, just always there at the thick end, just shame his team isn't as strong as others to support. Great win for Greipel yesterday, showed his diversing capabilities to win a finish like that.

Be interesting to see Dumoulin today, going to assume he'll stay in touch looking to bag some huge time games at the weekend!

Well that stage looked absolutely horrendous today.

Some good rides and some not so good as expected. Roglic win was great to see after the first stage miss. He's only been pro 5 years!

Great ride by Landa to limit his losses, probably helped by the conditions. Also by Brambilla to hold onto pink!

Dumoulin looked devastated and nibali more than likely expected to take more time. Zakkarin definitely had a day to forget!

Pearl Izumi tour series kicks off in a couple weeks and is fully televised. It's superb fun to watch :)

I'll be at round 4 (Redditch) been every year except two years ago when I was away on holiday.
However itv coverage is crap IMO, 1 hour program with 15 mins of adverts, 25 mins of random chatter, & if your lucky 20 mins of poorly edited together cycling.

Yeah watched the tour series last night, kind of frustrating to watch though given its pretty hashed together. Enjoying watching the ToC though at he moment. On a business trip to San Fran on Wednesday was hoping I might be able to sneak out to a stage but no such luck.
