Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

I totally disagree on the Kruiswijk point, crashing on a descent is a racing incident and down to bad bike handling so I see no issue in riders attacking from there.

Waiting for the leader after a puncture or a crash in the group is one thing - that's pure bad luck - but a crash or a mechanical brought on by your own stupidity (like Schleck shifting gears as he tried to attack Contador back in 2010 or whenever) is fair game IMO.

As much as I dont like Nibali I have to agree, the guys were already starting their descent before Kruiswijk crashed and it was his own fault, so its race on IMO. If Kruiswijk was brought down accidentally outside of his control or got a flat, then it would be good sportsmanship not to take advantage.

Also worth pointing out, despite Nibali's efforts in the penultimate stage he only finished 13 seconds ahead of Uran and Valverde. I really think Chaves/Kruiswijk lost the Giro rather than the other way round, I'm not convinced Nibali's level increased that much, rather his competition weakened.

Yeah, I am with you on this one. It seems there is an opinion in the pro peloton though that he was out of order and didn't respect the race leader but he was in a group of hitting the descent and crashed of his own doing whilst there were riders all over the shop in chases/breaks due to the climb. Nibali or nobody attacked him, they rode the descent as they would have and I don't see why the 2 seperate groups (Chaves group and Nibali group) would sacrifice what they had on an all out descent to let the leader back on as well as the multi chasing groups. So I definitely do not agree with the secret pro but seems there must be a group of pro riders who are not happy Nibs took advantage of the pink jersey misfortune.

Tough prologue stage that. I don't know how much you can read into a prologue but Contador certainly had the legs for it.

Interesting this, as Froome and Team Sky seem to be really strong this year. I wonder how much of an advantage it will be to Froome to have a strong team around him, if Contador and a domestique buddy just sit on Froomes wheel? Froome certainly hasn't until yesterday shown any early season form to speak of.

Also, as an aside, I never thought I'd say this back in 2012, but I really do like Froome more than Wiggo now. I think Wiggo has just gone down in my estimations, since 2012/2013, not belittling his MASSIVE sporting achievements, more just the man himself. Doesn't come across as likeable any more.

Froome hasn't shown any "early season form" because he hasn't done any early season races. Guess we'll see if it pays off for him or if he misses the racing in his legs.

He raced the Sun Tour and Cadel Evans Ocean Road race in Aus and won the Sun tour. Admittedly he hasn't done much else

Great sprint from Bouhanni.

The Cofidis vs Katusha fight was a little silly.

Front bloke from Cofidis moves in front of Katusha train a little bit so Katusha first bloke takes his wheel and bully's Cofidis #2 rider off the wheel after a bit of a fight. Kristoff beats off Bouhanni after Bouhanni leans on him a lot. Not sure what happens to Kristoff in the sprint as it goes to head on shot but Bouhanni goes great guns.

Apparently Kristoff touches the wheel of his lead out man and nearly comes off, which was why he didn't contest the sprint as expected.

It's great to see some different tactics from Sky for a change! It seems to have worked out much better for them as well, they've used less domestiques and done less work to put Froome in the position that they normally do by using up the entire team.
I'm really happy that Porte is going strong as well.

Good day that, could see it coming a mile off though. Good to see Porte fighting at the front, would love to see him Podium in Le Tour.

Just watched the interviews, some interesting comments from Porte about the team instructions.
