Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

Just watched the interviews, some interesting comments from Porte about the team instructions.

I wonder if it shows who Porte considers to be his main contender? He was more concerned about working with Froome to gain time over Contador than sitting on and beating Froome in the sprint to get bonus seconds over him. Or maybe he thought he could do both?

I think the team instructions not to work with Froome would have been the right choice. I guess they had the advantage of seeing that Contador was not coming back whereas Porte wanted to make sure he stayed in front and didnt waste the effort of going with Froome's attack. That's the whole point of having the DS there though!

Yeah, not too sure or perhaps he thought well I'm not beating him even if I sit on so make the most of the gap and bonus seconds and sit with sky for next couple of days minimising work and maybe an opportunistic few seconds at the last moment to snatch it. Gonna be a great day today with madaleine in the middle of the stage.

Anyone know what the schedule is for todays Dauphine stage, coverage only starts at 15:00 on both Eurosport and ITV4, by which time I suspect most of the action may have happened.

Team Sky have been phenomenal in the Dauphine. Froome may have won it again, but huge credit has to go to his teammates. Landa and Henao in particular. They are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the TdF.

Sky look untouchable, the Tour is going to be a domination! Although whats Quintana up to? no one know how hes looking

Think he is looking at Route du Sud, won Romandie last month, but is back in Colombia, he'll have to make up big time in the mountains so is obviously focusing on that with the amount of TT mileage on this years tour.

Steve Cummings - what a hero. Has won so much more than his FTP alone should deliver. Looks amazing on a bike too; he is so still apart from whirring of legs

I forgot to say this as was so exhausted last night, but what a ride that was!

Just watched Tour De Suisse stage 2 and 3 highlights. Bloody hell Sagans sprint on second stage, and the ride to make the break in horrible conditions was a sight. Last 13km is incredible.

Awesome solo run by Steve Cummings, what a machine :D
Yup, loved it! Only caught the last 20 minutes of coverage and it's the only coverage of the Dauphiné I've watched this year. Really looked like an exciting race and I'll need to have a proper catch up one of these days!

Things really do look good for Sky, Wout too there in the latter stages of stage 7 and we all know how well he works for Froome in the TdF. For Froome to have 3 'mountain' domestiques of their caliber (along with Thomas) the mountain stages of the Tour could be all sewn up!

Although the problems they had with Henao's passport did they drop him from the Tour lineup? Come to think of it I'm not even sure Landa was in it either?

Porte was looking strong, but getting some grief for sitting on wheels! Would really love to know what the conversation with Froome was about, it looked like Froome disagreed or said no to whatever he asked/suggested?!

Dont forget Kwiatkowski too!
He's been well off the pace at the Dauphine and pulled out but apparently that's because he's been ill and if he recovers for the Tour he'll be another great climber on the Sky team.
