Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

Good finish by Cav today. Giant made a right balls of it with half of them going the wrong way round the roundabout on the run in, otherwise they might have kept Degenkolb in contention.

Didnt have a bet on today, dont like doing that on sprint stages.

Got Van Garderen tomorrow at 81:1.

Watching the current stage and got a question. So the 4 guys in the break-away sprinted for the sprint bonus points and money. Why then did Greipel, Cavendish, Sagan et al at the front of the peloton also sprint to the sprint point? I thought it was only for the first 3 riders past the line?

The money is for the top3 but there are points down to 10th (or maybe 15th?)

Wouldn't he need three to get to outright second rather than "just" tied for second? My hoping for it has nothing to do with whether I think it's actually likely to happen but it would be great to see him do it.

Apologies, I missed the 'outright'. So he needs three more stages to be clear 2nd. Fingers crossed for 2016!

Incidentally, does anyone know what's wrong with Kittel? I heard he had a virus or something?

Highlights stage 8:

The team time trial today and onto the Pyrenees for the first mountain stage on Tuesday.

Wouldnt be surprised to see BMC win today and put TVG in yellow , which would shake the race up nicely.

Although Sky have 5 good climbers for that last push up the hill at the end of the TTT so they may claw some time back there. Its gonna be an interesting day. Shame about OGE missing a lot of their team.

Got my money on Saxo today at 23:1.
They'll obviously push hard for contador but they also have the motivation that they only need a few seconds over Sky for Sagan to take the yellow jersey (and then become the holder of all jerseys other than the KOM)

Movistar on the road just now, doing alright, might take first place with this run.

Astana a bit lacklustre, in first place so far but not decisively so. They need to pull their finger out if Nibali is going to get up near the top.
