388w for a 60kg ride in peak fitness is fine for me

I am 60kg and I can push 388w.... for 5mins.... :p
The thought of pushing that as an avg up Mount Ventoux terrifies me. It's incredible!
Wikipedia and stuff has Froome at 71kg. I don't think he weighs anywhere near 11 stone, no way.

Another edit - I watched "The Lie" which is the Armstrong film recently. When he trains for his 2009 come back tour when he was riding "clean" (lol). In his training session on that he is saying to win the tour you need to push 6.4W/KG, I don't know if that was up climbs, relating to an avg of some sort or the exact details but he 100% says that and starts boasting when he pushes 6.5 on a climb during the training session.

388w @ 60kg is 6.46.....

Froome's race weight is 67kg.
The average of 388w (5.79w/kg) doesnt seem to bad but half of the climb he had his team on the front pacing him up. I havnt seen the power data but from what i've read, the suspicions come from the top sections where he was riding at 400w (5.97w/kg) and sustaining attacks at 600w (8.95w/kg).

Bets for today's stage are:
Arredondo @ 51:1
JC Peraud @ 151:1

Where did you get his race weight from?

Some stills before the video inevitably shows up somewhere but nowhere main stream will re-host the video due to what happened to the guys accounts who upped it - https://twitter.com/Proactitudmedic/status/620722150446641153

You're right the suspicions are based around him sustaining big power but the lack of change in his HR during. But like I said, nobody knows if the video overaly HR is real/correct or anything so it doesn't hold any water at all.

From this article

“I find there’s a huge advantage to being light when it comes to the mountains. It might not be for everyone, but for me it plays a big part in what I’m able to do on a bike,” he says. “When I did well in the 2011 Vuelta [second to Juan José Cobo], which was the first Grand Tour that I really emerged as a contender, I raced at 67kg, so probably a good two kilos lighter than I’d ever been before. The results showed what a difference it made.

“I’m quite strict on myself with my eating once I go down towards that kind of weight. It’s amazing how much your body can do on so little,” he says.

“I’m at about 71kg now so I’ve got to get myself back to 67kg. I’m not worried at all — that’s perfectly normal after a month off the bike.”
He says that he was 67kg for the Vuelta in 2011 and is planning to cut down to 67kg again for this year's tour, so that may not be exactly the same as his 2013 weight but probably not far off.

The HR data seems odd. There's a comment on the facebook of somebody who says that there are various PEDs which can help move more oxygen around your body per heart beat but doesnt know of anything currently which would allow you to maintain almost the same HR from a threshold effort into a hard attack. That sounds believable to me and I wonder if the HR data is incorrect?

Nice find!

Seen some things say his max HR is 165 and some say it is 169. Pretty damn low max HR (if true).

This fella has seen the raw data, he is convinced by reviewing it that it is the real deal and he is confused by the HR data - https://twitter.com/Scienceofsport

I actually totally agree with him on the transparency, we were just speaking the other day about some riders even firing up all their power data to Strava for any person to see, yet Sky are top secret and have peoples online profiles erased within hours if something they don't like appears! No wonder there is so much suspicion and carry on. Transparency would certainly help the doping stigma that surrounds every top rider.....

Cross post from my prescient tinfoil hat thread:

Continuing on, if teams have nothing to hide there is no reason not to publish their power data. All the pro teams know what power is required to win a GT. I like Ross Tucker's analogy of it's the same as Justin Gatlin hiding his time in the 100m to stop his rivals knowing how fast he's going. Knowing that you need x number of watts to win the Tour is as helpful as knowing you need to run 9.70s to win the 100m.

What bothers me about this all isn't so much the alleged cheating, it's the hypocrisy of people like Sky and Brian Cookson coming in to cycling claiming they would do things differently, then once they're in finding pathetic excuses not to be as transparent as they should be.

Sky have completely failed in their mission to be transparent and that is why I can't get behind them.

Would not be surprised on a Froome stage win today.

Hoping Contador and Quintana are blazing today and it sends a bit of a shockwave into the GC as they've been relatively hidden and kept their powder dry. Hopefully today is their show of force!

I think both need to show something today and will want to put a marker down so it could be intense!

I tried looking for the video last night, instead i just ended up watching him do that climb from 2013.

Incredible stuff, i work nights and i got to bed at 9am this morning, i set my alarm for 2:300 so i could watch the good bits of todays race, wont get to watch tomorrows i dont think which is a shame as i wana see that stage too!
