Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

As stated on the BBC text feed:

Team Sky are either tactical geniuses or the jammiest team in the world. Nairo Quintana's break is stopped short as he finds Richie Porte up the road, who had dropped off the chase group and was able to hold back the Colombian to ensure Chris Froome could stick.

In other news, Kwiatkowski has now retired and is also leaving EQS.

He's struggled to make much of an impact this tour, I'm guessing it's form as he's looked strong in places just lacking consistency.

Quite excited about seeing him at Sky.

What's with Roche and Porte being in the breakaway group?

Would assume they're marking what's happening there and keeping track of the pace so Sky can closely monitor the GC and who's got the legsat the finish. Read somewhere yesterday that the pace for a few days (after the rest day) will mean Sky keeping track of every good break if they're not pushing the main peloton.

Oh no :( what is wrong with Tejay??? He's stopped at side of road, they are saying his tour is over....

Rubbish, he's been flying! Quite a few have dropped out now from illness :(

Sneaky/lucky/perfect timing! Guess Sky could see that Quintana was going off the front at some point so getting 2 strong riders up the road (who've been closing down breaks for days) to mark him was very clever.

Looks like he crashed on the final descent. Lost a few more minutes. Would have been interesting to see the final push with him involved too.

Hopefully he will be back in the coming stages and competing.

Watching pinot crash again, looms like he clipped his pedal on the ground which hopped the back wheel. Just poor technique again from him!

I agree, he started pedalling when he was still fully leaning the bike over. Moving weight to the inside and pushing the bike out.

They were saying it could be a sprint finish, but I think that'll depend on how quickly the sprinters can get up and over that HC in the middle.

Anyone care to bet against Sagan going in the breakaway today?

Absolutely no way in hell the sprinters will be around after the Glandon!
Lacets de Montvernier is absolutely stunning, one of the most glorious climbs you will see from the helicopter as they ascend it. During the Dauphine the TV coverage started as the peloton just finished the climb and that was so annoying. I look forward to seeing it full and proper today in all its glory :)
