Pro Evo 09 Demo released 2nd October

I dont think its that bad. Gameplay wise, I dont think a lot has changed from the last one. Players faces are much improved, look a lot like their real life counterparts.

Good to know it will be exactly the same, Ill play it a few times tonight and decide Fifa or this then. Been a PES fan since 4 but had Euro 2008 on PS3 and I really liked that so will have to see this year!

good to know ? but pes2008 was a disaster ? it's sat in it's box since day 1 for me and I went straight back to pes6 online that's very very bad to know it's similar to the dreadful 08
I'll wait til BT uncap me am always 0.5 meg between 5 and about midnight

I've played a couple of games now, it's definately slower pace than pes 2008, seems quite good, better than Fifa anyway.

Graphics are fairly similar to 2008, more detailed in close ups. Runs very well on my 8800GT, constant 60fps.

Here's some screenshots:

I'll give you a good opinion when I get it as i hate pes2008 with a passion.
It's on gamershell now

An improvement on the last pile of junk but I'm still upset. I've been a PES fan since the original and still play 06 with the evo patch today. As with 2008, I'm disappointed with the feel of this one too. It feels too precise, sticky, lacks freedom if you know what I mean? I think it is the ball physics that are letting it down for me once again. The plus side is that the graphics are decent. Why didn't they just make it look like that but play like 06? That would have been heaven.

Had a few games and enjoying it.

It's just so much free-flowing and responsive compared to Fifa '09 next-gen, it's just a better game of footy than Fifa.

The things i've noticed so far is the players positioning off the ball is very good and much better than '08 but the goalies are still prone to spilling the ball and pushing it towards strikers.

We don't know how close it is to the final build.

But, so far so good.

I have heard this is a very old build but to me the whole thing reeks of pes2008 with a graphical update and licenses.

The tempo is still a little to fast in my opinion.

The overall feel with this build is better than '08.

However, I think a lot of people might find it not drastically different to '08.

As I said, I prefer it to Fifa '09 next-gen.

Would I buy it ????

Hmmm, a lot will depend on how close it is to the final build.

I might wait and see what the opinion is with the release, than pre-order it.

Do you like Fifa '09 next-gen ?

The constant auto feints when changing direction look totally stupid. It has been in PES since PES6 where anyone over 90+ dribble accuracy can perform the auto feint. However, every player can do it and now it happens way too often. Graphics are a step up from last years. Lighting and kit detail has improved in this area. Frame rate issues have completely gone and very smooth all round play. Thats a major plus for me.

Whats the skill button now cause I can't seem to dart past players with a little shimmy (last second change on the pad taps the ball to the side of the defender) and the side step holding R2 seems to be completely gone it looks like.

Menus are indeed a bit of change and while not being perfect they bring something new to the table and I'm all for that.

Music is a lot less annoying this year. Most of the songs i've heard are like indie/pop-rock and sound decent.

Not totally sure of it right now but a little disappointed as I thought i'd be. The completely lack of new animations is annoying and the fact theres still no manual passing in the game irritates me. I don't quite get the explosive feel as I once did on pes6 and even on pes2008 in regards to pace on the ball. Everything seems very slowed down and passing the ball is more important than ever. Looks like those crazy mazy runs against mates may be over

Some other issues - Long range shooting looks back to the old roots of hit and miss (PES5 and below) which i feel is good cause 2008 was arcadey to the max. Shooting in general is more sensitive depending on positioning etc like it should be

Goal keepers seem to have improved but have they improved to my standard? I'm not totally sure yet but I've seen my keeper spill the ball into the middle a few times even after a relatively weak effort. Hes also parried the ball out to the side too. Will have to keep my eye on that aspect.

Haven't had a chance to play against a mate yet so thats still to come for me. Will see how that pans out

Its slower and plays better game then bonfire material PES 08 but thats not enough for me its exactly what i expected from videos minus Leipzig more newer ones.

Animation killer though running animations shocking they could have at least put in more variation even different animation be better. Thudding of touching ball is highly annoying but what i expected from the videos its really over done. Animation feels stiff and rigid also still not very fluid as PS2 games for me. And whats up with cursor change swapped LB for LT on 360 controller and not responsive compared to other way round but this was same last year in 08 demo.

Animation big part of gameplay from shooting to passing its all animated and thats not up to scratch its just not for me. No 1280 by 1024 support aswell ok someone will hack it but where option in settings.

My final decision will be based on console version but for me so far its what i expected playable but not enough for me to beat Fifa on next gen consoles this year new engine long overdue.

I said they would be identical earlier which they are but seems to be some nuisances with 360 controller on PC being not responsive same as last year not sure why this is. Just if i could use PS3 controller on PC it picks it up in settings but in game dosnt recognise it at all which is big shame prefer to use that.

And before i forget an expander will be on the way shortly so can play longer and hopefully more res support like last year for demo.

Edit: Post reminded me above graphics are better but i have already seen that with videos and runs way smoother which is what i heard no slowdown.

Had a few more games ...

The collision detection isn't as good as Fifa, the goalies are still dodgy.

I wonder if this is the Leipzig build.

It certainly isn't optimized, so it can't be the final build.
