Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2016 Thread

Tried the demo, its still no patch on PES5, PES3, WE9LE etc. The main problem are the wooly controls of the later PESes, in the old versions you controlled and timed every touch and every tackle (L1=soft touch, R2=medium, R1=heavy touch). In this PES a single button press can have the player make several touches, skip through animations half way through so you never feel like you can time the tackles and the ball control/dribbling. All the fancy automatic scripted dribble animations that kick in on some occasions make this even worse.

PES2016 is a decent footie game, but it's a crap simulation of football- something that old PESes were striving for. Shame, but oh well :(

PTE Patch have decided to release their first version some time in the next few days now that Konami are making us wait. It sounds like they just need to do the transfers then it'll be out. I also imagine PESGalaxy won't be far behind.

LOL

They released the game before Fifa to try and get more sales.

Imagine releasing a footy game in 2015 when the summer transfer window is closed and the players rosters are not officially updated.

Konami and EA = the Volkswagen of the gaming industry :D

PES seems to have been plagued with bad goalies for years, if it was something that could be fixed with a simple patch then they would have done it years ago in my opinion. Also lol @ Bhatti blocking that poster for making a light hearted joke about the roster updates, what a tool.

This is sadly true, in older pes if you had good timing you could beat a lunging defender with a change of direction 100% of the time. the player turned when asked, it was simple, made sense. Now with the fancy animations your input gets kind of 'queued up' so it all syncs nicely on the screen. Can be very unpredictable and creates a real disconnect

Best footie game I've played since World soccer Eleven on the Gamecube. Playing in 2k on the PC is pretty awesome. No idea why people would buy Fifa over this.

So how is this, didnt like the demo much but Fifa 15 is fairly rubbish so far.

Master League has had a fantastic overhaul. The player animation is superb, the gameplay is leagues ahead of Fifa 15 at least.

2000+ photorealistic players, 10000+ real players, 400+ teams.

The demo I found okay, but obviously you get the meat of the game when you buy it...

Review

Back to the master league...

Animation was terrible in the demo? Especially the disjointed running.

Might give it a go.

What spec you running? Maybe you can change some video settings on the full game to sort this out, in fact you can on the deom iirc. I'm using a 4k 60hz monitor running this at 2k and it is brilliant. I would imagine it would be on standard specs, a bit baffled.

After 25 hours or so of play, this statement sums things up perfectly.

In an effort to 'appear' more realistic, PES 2016 takes an unprecedented level of control away from the player, especially with collisions which are almost totally decided upon by the AI. Mashing buttons like crazy trying to retain possession, only to have the AI take control away from the player and bend the game in this way or that, just isn't fun. Hollow satisfaction when the AI works in your favour, utterly infuriating when it works against you.

I have binned the game already. Not quite a record, as I binned 2014 after just a few games, but as Pro Evo games go, this has went out the window for me pretty fast.

25+ hours later and I still think it's the best Football game I've played, I think IGN with the 9.5 score got it pretty much spot on.

You have to remember each player on the pitch has different stats that effect the outcome of being able to retain possession for example.

Yes. Stats dictate the outcome of the all the collisions and 50/50s, which the AI imposes on the flow of the game at every opportunity.

Great, so where do I come in?

Timing and/or using the right players. Some players like Messi are just hit and miss they're that good, Hazard is incredible in this game. Show them onto their weaker foot(if they have one), and try to hussle them enough so they have to pass.

Enjoying ML a bit better now i've bumped it up to Top Player and done all the BPL transfers. Bit annoying when the CPU does things like decide players like Harry Kane should be on the bench because another player has 1 single point higher OVR though.

Using the right players, aka Stat Abuse.

That is precisely why the game sucks horses balls. The level of influence that stats have over procedings this year is greater than ever before. Apologists for this lameness state that it is all about timing. The reality is, it is only about timing if the AI allows you the opportunity in the first place to make that 'well timed' frantic button mash (after the AI has missteered an easy pass in order to impose yet another 'collision' on the match, the outcome of which the AI totally determines).

In PES 2016, the stats and/or the AI scripting play every bit as much of a role in the outcome of the match as the gamer does......and when you realise that, it is quite disgusting.

It seems to me like Konami (and EA) are moving more and more towards turning their games into stat based pay to win RPGs, because if they can crack that nut, and have kids maxing out their parents credit cards buying player packs for their myClub or FUT, then they are laughing all the way to the bank. That in my view is what is happening, and the more it does happen, the more ridiculous the game will become in terms of offering the veneer of a 'contest of wits and skill'.

There is a setting that you can change so the cpu doesn't select the team based on form or whatever.

Stat Abuse? You mean realism? You obviously don't get it so get a refund instead of posting nonsense.

EDIT: Master League doesn't cost a penny and is by far the best way to play this game for me.
