Problems with GA-EX58-UD5 Overclocked bundle

Hi everyone.

Got my Overclocked bundle in august and have been having increasing problems with it ever since.

I'll try and describe all of them as best as possible!

Firstly, the computer will only boot with overclock settings from COLD. If the computer restarts (soft or hard) then it does its usual power up / power down stuff and then defaults back to the original settings. If I re-enable the overclocked settings, I can sometimes get it to boot again (These are the settings that came with the board from O.C, the only things that have been changed are boot order, etc. Also, if the computer crashes which happens sometimtes, again this is a reboot so forces the settings out again.

I obviously don't want to play about with the settings and risk voiding my warranty!

Second problem:

I recently got a G19 Keyboard as a present. However the UD5 won't boot up if it's plugged in, just gets to the end of the memory test and reboots. (This happens with and without overclock settings) Computer was always fine with my G15.

Third problem:

I am now running on normal un-overclocked settings as I can't be arsed with the amount of times I have to start it up to get it working sometimes. This has bought back a problem I originally had and talked to O.C tech about. I get the dreaded capacitor noise! Seems random sometimes, normally when the computer is not under heavy load. This problem went away for a while and only seems to have come back after reverting to stock settings.

What do people suggest? RMA the lot? I'm at my wits end with this setup! I thought having an overclocked bundle would be the safest option as it would just work!

Specs:
Overclockers UD5 - Intel i7 @ 4Ghz - 6GB Ram (F10 bios)(Windows 7 RC)
2 x WD Black 640GB
1 x OCZ Summit 120GB
1 x WD Green 750GB
Creative X-FI
G19 Keyboard
Dell 24" Monitor
Asus 4890 GFX

Hope someone can help me get back to computing normality!

Thanks for your quick reply Admiral Huddy.

Do I have to contact them via email to sort it out? I would like to speak to someone over the phone about it because we might be able to sort it that way but i'm not paying 10p per min when the bundle came faulty! I called them before and didn't get much help for my £1.20. :(

If you don't want to pay for the call (which I don't blame you for) then the only other way is to send them a webnote or post in the Customer Services forum.

There isn't much other people on the forums can suggest if changing settings in the BIOS voids your warranty, unfortunately.

Use the webnote, ask them to call you.

Had loads of issues myself starting from the cold boot issues, I have now got a new F10 4ghz overclocked profile off overclockers.co.uk, all appears to be running fairly good apart from a little warm on idle:)
Cheers

Hey Mrix,

Did you download this profile or did they send it back from RMA with it? I would much prefer to sort it at home rather than waiting for an RMA with no machine.

I'm hoping OC support with come through for me! :)

re:

They have the latest F10 profile made just over the past week.
Just go to the support section of this forum and ask and they will send it;)
Its definitely worked for me and another guy on these forums, but I did read a topic where one guy was having issues.
Cheers

Thanks for that Mrix, have just posted a support query and will try the new profile as soon as they send it. I don't think it will solve my keyboard issues but it might solve the rest!

re:

Hope you get some luck as I did as I was also pulling my hair out over such an expensive bundle that did not work correctly on overclocked settings:eek:
But like I say pretty much back to normality now:cool:
Cheers

Just been trying out the new profile O.C sent. It is a bit better but many problems still remain. I can now soft reboot and the system works fine, but if I hard reboot or turn the computer off and turn it back on within a few mins, then it comes on, then switches off, then comes on again. Then switches off, then comes back again and says the overclock settings have been disabled, even though they are obviously fine. Also, no cold boot issues at the moment, although i never really got any because it never gets cold in this room.

Also I am still unable have my G19 plugged in during startup. If I leave it plugged in then the computer goes into a reboot loop until I unplug it (with and without overclocking). I found someone on the Logitech forums complaining about not being able to boot to a Gigabyte MB with a G19 keyboard :(

I think this might be a Gigabyte issue, they don't make the best boards, but it is very annoying! :(

LOL, didn't think of it like that! Although it does boot fine when it hasn't been running (cold) but doesn't like turning on after it has been on for a while (warm). Does anyone know if this problem has been solved?

have you got boot from USB or other devcies enabled in the bios ? If yes disable it to see if this helps with the G19 boot issue.

I haved disabled the USB Storage option in the bios and USB isn't in the list to try for boot devices and i can't find anything else there either. Have also tried turn on/off USB Keyboard / Mouse support, but no combo of options seems to work. Interestingly though, if i have the system overclocked and the keyboard plugged in, it reboots then complains about overclocking settings, then will finally boot after a min or two of being frozen at the bootup screen.

Its fine at stock, correct? Problems at 4Ghz. What about a lower overclock? Something like 180x20, 3600Ghz. The other thing I'd look at is Auto settings, find the values they're running at and change from AUTO to that actual value.

The keyboard doesn't work at stock or overclocked settings. Only if it is plugged in after memory tests or sometimes if both keyboards are plugged in on stock and only after it spending 3 mins at mem test.

I will play with the overclock settings tomorrow and see if i can get it to cold boot better after it has been running a while. It's weird though, its never been perfect since i got it, but i'm sure it didn't have the restart problem when it arrived, and i haven't changed any settings. Although i don't often turn the computer off then back on again, just warm restarts. I was first alerted to it when i came back to the computer a few times after it had crashed and the overclock settings had been disabled.
