Product name changes - why?

Choco Kripies was a joke!!

Didnt they change and you had to vote whether you wanted it back to Coco Pops or to stay as Choco Kripies..

Greedy, sponging, brain sucking marketing ploy.

Either way, they are still awesome!

Krispies, not Kripies. :D

Yes, they had a phone vote (free, not premium...hmmm) and I rang three times.

On a dark day in March 2001, the UK’s Post Office, founded in 1635 by Charles I, changed its name to Consignia. One year later, Consignia chairman Allan Leighton confirmed on BBC television that the group would be ditching Consignia, “probably in less than two years.” As it turns out, the ditch came on June 13, 2002 – sooner than expected but probably not soon enough.

Cif rhymes with Jif :p. If you had a global company, would you really want to have different names for your product in every country, or one name that works everywhere? ;)

So why start out with different names in the first place?!

Ridiculous!

Jif was changed to Cif because they wanted to launch the product in the middle east, and it is a swear word in one of their languages, so they changed to Cif internatially. Had to do it as a case study in A-Level economics.

It was also changed (in the UK) to be put inline with the rest of europe, according to the advert on TV when they did it.

"Jif will now be called Cif but it will still be the same product" or something like that the advert went. :p

Because if you initially launch a product in just one country, you don't typically research its name to see if it's insulting/strange in other languages.
