damn poor show this weekend too, nothing done, as basically it's down to painting now. i bought another compressor to link with the one i already have, twice as many beans so i can use my airfed, but it took paypal 1 1/2 weeks to tell me my bank had refused to cough up (good knows why i'm well in credit and have an o/d ?!?!&) so i've added funds from another acc (instant) and paid and it's completed so i should have a shiny new compressor soon so i can get in there and play - altho as its as good a christmas it may be after crimbo now - who knows

went to MK shopping last sunday (the official day of work on the beetle) so nothing done, even if i didn't go shopping the compressor STILL hadn't turned up :rolleyes:

, i was beginning to fear an e-bay scam, but it turned up tuesday.
as you can see from the pics the compressor is indoors, i'm going to move them both outside under the stairs to the 1st floor of the garage. so i've got to plump them both in chain them up and make a cage round them. then i can paint it !

Just out of interest, how do you avoid getting a seam between where you've painted inside and then painted the outside? Or do you just blend it in?

you can use 'foam edge' a lenght of small round sponge with a sticky part - helps soften the edge, or you can 'french' it, you fold a small part over of normal masking tape and have the folded part on the edge.

if i get round to it i'll post a pic - probably best

1 - foam edge, you place this along the edge you want masking - softens the edge.

2 - 'french' masking, you fold a couple of mm over of the masking tape and place where needed - softens the edge.

3 - another option is the mask quite close to the edge then use fineline along the edge, finish painting it then pull off the fineline, the paint doesn't dry up against the tape so softens the line.

well i've finally got round to some actual work on the bug today - Yippeee
today i done a teeny bit of prep, masked it up, and started to paint it.

i've done more pics of the masking so burned_alive and others who may be interested can see whats actually been done, most of the masking was done 'french' masking as foam can be moved be some door edges namely beetle ones !!, foam was used at the front ok.

i'm going to do some outline stars on it, and to keep them subtle they'll be black, i've stencil airbrushed some nice glittery silver to add a little something. it looks odd atm but you'll see !!
thats it for today, i want to try to get it hopefully !! finished this week. / famous last words.

hmm, i need to update my sig now....... may not be worth it this week / hopefully i'll be needing to re-do it every day :rolleyes:
