Project Beetle !

this mornings efforts !!
fine lining the stars .......

a couple of rolls of fine line and about a million cuts later .......

today :

1st but on a blue base to help it cover, then the real colour and de-masked the stars.
i've a little work to do before i but the clear on, little bit of crazing in a few places, and two of the stars need a bit of airbrush touch up, then i'll clear it, then flames, then clear + + !

Looking great. I wish I had a garage, compressor and a poor car to butcher. Also welding and machining skills would be great too.

I have so much inspiration and ideas... I just wish I could put them into practise. I could only do it myself, it wouldn't feel right comissioning something like that, plus that would cost so much more!

Hats off to your bravery. Can't wait to see more.

Friend of mine 3D modelled this:

My kind of craziness.

Looking great! How hard is it to spray paint? How long was it before you were happy with the results you could produce?

Now the question is.... will the Menace fit in your garage :D
Looking good dude, following this with interest ;)

Not sure about the stars, looks like the've been stuck on as an after-thought.

Might be different when the lacquer goes on though :)

today i've done the touch-in's on the stars and sorted the crazing and scotched it all over- bit late to smack a coat of clear on - job for tomorrow

i know what you mean about the stars, but they aren't finished yet + it'll look better with the wings on and cleared.

dup - nice style there, like the angle of the rears !

Iain - i'm sure we can squeeze it in somehow :D

I'm loving the colour, who makes it?

That's a lot of used pads there. Bet that took you a little while to get through!

the colour is a one off, a benefit of having a mixing scheme to play with, its blue with shed loads of a special green pearl (xsarilic) so flips between blue and green nicely this doesn't show in the pics the cam just flashes to the blue base the colour is awesome in the flesh.

about 1 1/2 hrs of playing with the DA to use all those discs :D
