Project Cars 2 is en route :D

I played one on the PS3, I think it was 6? There was 21 versions of a Toyota Yaris. I'm not too fussed about career. But could somebody tell me if I can create custom championships with choose of tracks, cars and rules?

You can create custom races but not championships (not at release, they may patch it in later if they can get it to the right standard)

Whenever I see games with huge car lists I worry, you almost certainly know that about 70% of them will be complete and utter junk in terms of physics, that will probably be the case with this game just like it is with Forza and GT.

I know huge car lists sell games to casuals but it's the number 1 sign for me that the a game isn't going to have a consistent level of quality throughout.

Yeah ok...
What I do wish it had was the ability to talk to your engineer like in F1 2016/7 and get weather report and tell them you're pitting in.

Not talking but there is an in car mgmt menu, where you can adjust strategy on the fly and request a pit stop...if you can do this going through eau rouge without crashing you're a better man than me lol...you can also use it to change barke bias etc where the car you are driving has in car adjustment of those settings IRL

what?

some of the cars are from pcars1 and this game is based on the same engine as pcars1.

Yeah ok...

Yeah I've seen that, but easier if you can just say it, I think Codemasters implemented it well.

It's a pretty simple concept.

Look at the most respected sims on the market, rfactor 2, iracing etc... they spend months developing a single car. Do you really think a game which boasts 180 cars is going to offer the same level of quality in every single car ?

Huge car lists always result in a very mixed bag in terms of quality. Some cars will feel good and realistic and then you'll have other ones which are absolutely awful and clearly haven't had anywhere near the same amount of attention put into them as others. This was clearly the case in pCars1 (which had a considerably smaller car count than this) and has been obvious in games like GT and Forza for years. Huge car lists sell games, people used to argue over what was better between GT and Forza based on how many cars they had in them....

Less cars means you have more time to spend developing each individual car but you end up with less depth in terms of the amount of content. Ian Bell pretty much said as much in that interview posted earlier. It's a trade off, for some the amount of cars will be more important than having fewer cars with more refined physics.... I'm the opposite.

Certainly explains why it seems to take forever and a day. For sector 3 to release new cars in Raceroom. Some of the soon to come content was revealed well over a year ago.... And I'm still waiting!

I take it you won't be buying it then...

It's a racing sim therefore I'm interested by default. I'll be buying it on steam and giving it a two hour trial and if I like it I'll keep it. Im sure it will have some decent handling cars, it's just a case of going through them all and finding out which ones are good and which ones are filler... hopefully I find the good ones before the trial runs out. Im hoping the GT3 and GT4 cars will have had a lot of effort put into them.

If you like older stuff give the Escort RS1600 a blast around Cadwell, that's a hoot... GT3, GT4 GTE all good... the M6 is good. Be aware there are 2 default setups loose and stable, it defaults to loose if it detects a wheel. Hope you enjoy it...the more the merrier!
