Project Cars 2 is en route :D

The multiplayer, whilst awesome, is completely and utterly broken.

I did a fair amount of racing with a friend over the weekend, and we had two awkward conversations.

"Why'd you choose the Acura GT3? Thought you wanted the Audi R8 LMS"
"I did choose the Audi"
"Trust me, you're driving an Acura"
"I'm not"

He took a photo of the dashboard with his phone, and it was indeed an Audi. I took a photo of his car on my screen, and it was an Acura. WTF.

Last night we joined the same server (GT4s at Spa) and I was driving in the rain, and he said that the track was bone dry. Again, we took photos of our respective screens and mine showed puddles (and a 90 second slower lap time), whilst his showed blue skies and a dry track.

Hopefully they can fix these bugs really soon.

Yea it's easier to learn a tack using the racing line aids and then when it comes to the race itself just turn it off
The quoted comment was regarding the minimap, not the driving line.

Do whatever works for you, but I'd advise not using the driving line at all. It'll only teach you bad habits.
Learn a track by simply driving around it and remembering stuff.

Made me giggle.

Such a glitchy game.

How does it teach you bad habits?

For me it teaches me where the best racing line is and where to break and once it becomes second nature i can turn of the racing line.

I tried last weekend without it and it was a lot harder to learn a track. I still have not as i was at best part 9 seconds off the top when i was playing online.

I was on free practise session for almost an hour.

It usually teaches you sub-optimal braking points and the line isn't always the best.
Sure, it can help you learn the layout, but don't rely on it for anything else.

I don't mean to be harsh, but if you're 9 seconds off the top after practicing for an hour with a line that tells you what to do, then you're not ready to be racing online and will likely be a liability to others. I'm not trying to **** on you or kill your fun, it's just reality based on experience :)

Once you've learned how to drive around a track using proper lines, proper gear choice and braking points, you can apply that to virtually any track and learn it fairly quickly without having to rely on the driving line.
Sure, you may or may not be challenging for pole with the quick guys, but you'll be a better driver once you learn to rely on yourself after you've learned proper technique.

This isn't about elitism. It's about you becoming a faster, safer and more intelligent racer.

No that almost 1 hour practise was without any lines mate.

Also even if i master that particular track and car(GT3) i will have to redo the whole training again for other car/track combos.

I just did the practise session, not the race. im nowhere near ready to race

There's nothing wrong with using the racing line to learn a track and once you've learned it you turn it off and then work on braking later, tweaking lines, etc.

Erratic, over ambitious drivers and drivers who think that because they're faster that they have the right to boot you out of the way are the liabilities online, not slow drivers.

Aaaanyway, the AI is ridiculous, I had it set to 85 and was racing the Ginettas around Donington National and they were lapping 1 second faster than the current WR in the race.

Both types can be liabilities. It's not a case of one or another.
There are slow and fast drivers that have decent track awareness and can maintain safety/predictability and there are those that can't.

Yes, you'll have to learn the quirks of a new car/track combo, but you will be able to apply your knowledge of proper technique to virtually anything.

And its boring as hell. So nice to come across a server running cars that actually have character. I'll hate it if PC2 online becomes the typical Assetto Corsa GT2's, GT3's at bloody SPA 24/7.

Agreed. The best race I've done so far was the Vintage Trackday B cars (Ford GT40 & Ferrari 330 P4) at Bathurst in heavy rain. So much oversteery fun! Hopefully they fix the final corner on that track because it is simply impossible not to aquaplane, even at 10km/h.

Well hopefully soon we can organising some racing with a variety of tracks / cars / weather etc. Would be quality, providing its not like 50 laps or something :o
